Agenda Bookshop Embassy is the Valletta branch of Agenda Bookshop, a Maltese books and magazines retailer, in the Embassy Complex on St Lucia's Street. It stocks international bestsellers, children's books, local publications, newspapers, magazines and stationery. Enquiries go through the VisitMalta.co.uk form on this page.

Agenda Bookshop is one of the best-known book retailers in Malta, and its Embassy branch sits in the Embassy Complex on St Lucia's Street in Valletta. For a UK visitor it is an easy way to pick up a paperback for the beach, a newspaper from home or a children's book for a long flight.

The group sits comfortably alongside leading UK bookshops in range, with the latest international bestsellers on the shelves and a wide selection of new titles every day. Its shops stand in busy places such as the airport, the capital and the main shopping centres. Our Valletta guide shows what else to see within walking distance of the shop.

What you can buy

Books are organised into fiction, non-fiction and children's sections, with bestsellers, new arrivals and coming-soon titles. Fiction runs from crime, fantasy, romance, science fiction and thrillers to classics, historical fiction and graphic novels. Non-fiction covers travel, history, cookery, business, science, self-help, philosophy and more, and there are textbooks and dictionaries.

A Local Publications section groups Maltese fiction, non-fiction and children's titles. That is worth a look if you want to read more about the island: Knights of Malta history and our about Malta page give you a starting point before you choose a book.

Prices shown on the online shop include bestsellers at €17.50 and new releases at €16.99, with a bargain section of more than 1,500 titles starting from €0.50. Children's titles include Ladybird baby books at €11.99.

Newspapers, magazines and gifts

The newsstand carries Maltese, British, American, German, French and Italian newspapers, along with magazines on food, motoring, puzzles, sports and general interest. Subscription and collectable series are offered too.

Stationery and gifts include journals, diaries, notebook journals, reading glasses, book stands, beach towels, picnic blankets and gym towels. Gift vouchers come as electronic or physical vouchers, and a collectibles section stocks trading card products. These are practical souvenirs for a holiday in Malta, and our things to do in Malta guide is a good companion for choosing what to read where.

Ordering, delivery and collection

The online shop delivers free on orders over €25. Books in stock arrive in 2 to 4 days, orders made at the weekend may take longer, and titles ordered from abroad normally take 14 to 28 working days. If a book is out of stock at the publisher, it will be delivered when available.

You can collect online orders from any Agenda Bookshop, 8 Till Late or Animate outlet, and returns are accepted within 14 days of receiving an order. Returns of delivery orders are left at a bookshop after contacting customer care, and a photograph of any damaged book needs to be sent.

Other branches and nearby areas

The group runs shops across Malta and Gozo, including a second Valletta branch on Republic Street, shops in Sliema, Naxxar, Swieqi, Qormi, Mosta and Victoria in Gozo, plus Animate in St Julian's and 8 Till Late outlets. Our Gozo guide helps with planning time in Victoria, and our guide to the upper Barrakka gardens is a pleasant place to open a new book in Valletta.

If you are still arranging your trip, see our where to stay in Malta, Valletta hotels and flights to Malta from the UK pages. Agenda is also listed in our bookshops in Malta directory.
