Aloha Boat Charters Malta is a family-run business offering private boat trips around Comino, Gozo and Malta for tourists and locals alike. It is based in Għajnsielem on Gozo and takes guests out on its own boat, Aloha 1, which is reserved for your group alone, with one skipper to run it.
It appears on VisitMalta.co.uk among the island's boat charter operators, and it is a good fit for anyone who wants a private day on the water rather than a seat on a shared cruise.
Who runs the charters
Aloha Boat Charters was created in 2021 by Jeffrey, who rebuilt Aloha 1 so that it suits private charters and is comfortable for guests. He grew up going to sea with the older generation of his family, so he knows the Maltese islands well, and other members of the family make up the crew. Their aim is charters that are enjoyable, interesting and safe.
The boat and what is on board
Aloha 1 is nine metres long and 3.5 metres wide, with two Iveco engines, and it is insured to carry up to 22 people including the captain. On board you will find a lounge area, a canopy for shade, a bathing area with an easily accessible ladder, a bathroom, a barbecue, an ice chest, USB charging points and a Bluetooth and AUX surround sound system.
Snorkelling equipment, swimming noodles for children, life jackets, a first aid kit and underwater lights for night swimming are also provided. A gas barbecue is included and the crew light it and help with the cooking, though you should bring your own disposable cutlery. You can bring your own food and drinks, including responsibly consumed alcohol, ideally in cans or plastic bottles instead of glass.
Charters and itineraries
The standard options are a half-day charter of four hours or a full-day charter of seven hours. The main trips cover Comino with one stop in Gozo, or Gozo with one stop in Comino, and there are also sunset dinner charters, sunset night party charters and fishing charters. Our Blue Lagoon guide and Gozo guide show what the main stops offer.
Guests are met at Mġarr Harbour in Gozo or at Ċirkewwa in Malta at the time they choose, and the group has the whole boat to itself for the duration. Every trip is customised, and you can discuss your wishes before booking or ask the skipper to change the route during the trip, as long as the new plan fits within the hours you booked. The photographs show the boat among limestone cliffs, sea arches and caves, as well as catches from fishing trips.
Booking, payment and practical tips
Tell the business your date, the type of charter and the size of your group, and it will confirm availability and the cost; there is no obligation to book. You then reserve the charter with a deposit. Prices are not published on the website. Booking ahead is recommended because availability is limited, and same-day bookings are only occasionally possible.
Refunds are given only when a charter is cancelled because of bad weather and both sides agree it cannot go ahead. The captain watches the weather closely and will reschedule or refund if the sea is unsafe. Credit cards are not accepted, but there are ATMs at both Mġarr and Ċirkewwa. Bring swimwear, sunscreen, a hat, water and your own towels, plus a light jacket for a sunset trip. Children and older guests are welcome, and trips can be adapted for them. Our Malta weather guide explains what to expect by month, and if you are staying on Gozo see our list of hotels in Gozo.
