BVR The Boutique is a dress boutique for special occasions, with its Malta shop at Savoy Gardens on Rue D'Argens in Gżira, the harbourside town between Sliema and Valletta. Every dress is handpicked, chosen for fine craftsmanship, beautiful fabrics, style and character. More than 300 different dresses are on offer, from evening gowns to smart casual outfits.

History: from a Gozo shoe shop to a dress boutique

The first BVR shop opened in 1971 in St George's Square in Victoria, Gozo, as a small family business that sold mainly shoes. It moved to a larger space in 1985, and in 1994 expanded into a second shop selling dresses, shoes and accessories. The dress boutique reached Malta in 2013, as demand for its dresses grew, with the shop at Savoy Gardens in Gżira.

The mission has stayed the same throughout: to empower and inspire women, both customers and the team behind the counter. The aim is to provide high-quality dresses for the special occasions in a woman's life, and to give staff a good place to grow. Dresses for every occasion

The website shops by occasion: weddings, baptism, holy communion, confirmation, graduation, parties, gala dinners and smart casual. By style it lists dresses, curvy dresses, a couture collection, ballgowns, long, short and maxi dresses, trouser suits and jumpsuits. Evening dresses run from ball gowns and long dresses to sequin and cocktail styles.

Morning wear covers dresses with jackets or coats, trouser suits and career attire, and smart casual covers jumpsuits, maxi dresses, short dresses and flowing styles for a relaxed lunch or a holiday day. Printed prices on the site give a sense of the range: short dresses from €230 to €295, a midi dress at €245, a long dress at €565 and a beaded long dress at €700. Prices on the latest arrivals page span from €28 for small items to €1,100.

Accessories and event availability

To complete an outfit, the boutique stocks shawls, fur, jewellery, shoes, bags, hats, fascinators, hatinators and hair bands. Sample prices include a belt at €28, earrings at €35, a pearl necklace at €45, a fascinator at €27, a clutch bag at €30 and a hatinator at €110.

When you buy a dress online, you enter the dates, occasions and venues where you plan to wear it. This ensures the same dress is not sold to two customers attending the same event, and the boutique may refund an order if the dress has already been bought by another guest at a shared event. Sizes include a bust, waist and hip chart, given as an approximate guideline.
