Chloe's Closet & Friends is a small boutique for babies and young children on St John Street, the steep main thoroughfare running through the capital. It sells softly designed clothing, newborn essentials, toys and gifts that can be personalised, and anyone arriving with a christening, baby shower or birthday to buy for will find plenty to browse.

The story behind the shop

The business opened in 2017 as a small family venture. Its founder, Melanie, wanted to dress her baby daughter, Chloe, in natural fibres and organic materials, and found little of that on offer in Malta at the time. The shop grew from that search, and the brand name carries both Chloe and the wider family of labels, or friends, it stocks.

The approach centres on comfort, sustainability and timeless design. Many pieces are gender-neutral so that they can be handed down from sibling to sibling or friend to friend. The business was named Sustainable Fashion and Emerging Business Woman of the Year in 2023.

What you can buy

The range is wide. Newborn essentials include muslin cloths, swaddles, blankets, hooded bath towels, beanies, booties and organic sleepsuits, many marked GOTS, the organic textile standard. There are weaning items such as silicone dinner sets, insulated food jars, water bottles and lunch boxes, plus toothbrushes for toddlers and school essentials.

For play, the toys and playtime collection includes Maileg mice in matchboxes, ballet outfits and tiny furniture, while the nursery range features lamps and hot air balloon shades, night lights, music boxes and decor. Changing bags, rainwear, shoes, swimwear and hats complete the picture. A gift voucher can be delivered or collected in the shop, and a Gifts Under €50 collection helps with smaller budgets. Personalised gifts and Bobo balloons

Personalisation is a speciality. Knitted blankets and plush toys can be embroidered with a child's name, comforter bunnies come with personalised options, and Bobo balloons, clear balloons holding a soft toy with a name or message such as Welcome Baby Girl, are made to order. Bespoke gift hampers are also available, wrapped with the shop's own ribbon.

Delivery, returns and visiting

Online orders within Malta usually arrive in one to three working days, and orders to Gozo in four to five. Spend €50 or more and shipping is free across both islands, apart from Bobo Balloons. The site also ships worldwide, with rates shown at checkout, so friends and relatives in the UK can send a gift to Malta or have one sent home. In-store purchases can be returned within 15 days for a credit note valid for three months, provided items are unused and tagged. Sale items are final. Online buyers have 14 days to cancel under Maltese and EU consumer law, and personalised goods may be excluded.
