The spa at the db San Antonio Hotel + Spa is run by Pearl Spas, the spa brand that operates the spa inside this hotel. In Qawra, on the shore of St Paul's Bay, the spa takes its cue from the hotel's Moorish styling and combines 10 treatment rooms with an indoor pool, a jacuzzi, a hydrotherapy bath, a steam room, a sauna and a relaxation area. The spa and the hotel around it

The db San Antonio is a 4-star superior all-inclusive hotel in the middle of Qawra, with more than 500 Moorish inspired rooms and suites, restaurants and bars, live entertainment, fitness facilities and several pools. Views over St Paul's Bay and the nearby islands are a feature of the grounds. The spa is one more layer in that offer, so it suits a resort stay as well as a separate trip for a spa day.

Pearl Spas describes its aim as helping people look and feel their best through a varied range of holistic treatments, delivered by a team of qualified therapists who guide you through the choices. Rooms at the hotel come as Standard Rooms with inland or sea views, Family Rooms sleeping four, two-level Duplex rooms, Suites with a balcony or terrace, and Accessible Rooms with a wider doorway and a roll-in shower. Facilities: pool, steam room, sauna and relaxation area

The wet area is the heart of the spa. A stunning indoor pool is joined by a jacuzzi and a hydrotherapy bath, so you can alternate warm bubbling water with swimming. A steam room and a sauna sit alongside, and the decor continues the Moorish theme of the hotel, which gives the spa a character quite different from a modern clinical setting.

Between treatments you can rest in the relaxation area, with comfortable sofas where you can sit in a robe before or after a session. Changing rooms and towels are provided, which means a spa day needs little more than swimwear. Spa day packages and printed prices

Spa day packages are designed for a full day of relaxation. The All-Inclusive Spa Day costs €49 and pairs lunch with use of the indoor spa facilities. Longer packages combine named treatments, with a single price for one person and a couple price for two. Aromatherapy Trilogy for 50 minutes is €99 for one or €190 for a couple. Stress-Breaker Signature for 50 minutes costs €99 for one or €190 for a couple, and for 80 minutes €139 or €270. The Meridian for 50 minutes is €109 for one or €210 for a couple, and for 80 minutes €139 or €270.

The Ayurveda Master package is priced at €119 for one or €230 for a couple over 50 minutes, and €149 or €290 over 80 minutes. For a hammam-style outing, Sultan's Couple Bath is €79 and Sultan's Ritual is €99. Across the packages listed, prices run from €49 to €290. Packages can be redeemed from Monday to Saturday, excluding Sundays and public holidays, so plan your day accordingly.

Individual treatments: massage, facials and body care

If you would rather choose one treatment, the individual menu runs from €30 to €240 across 83 items. Massage is the biggest group. A Back, Neck and Shoulder Massage is €40, a Well Being Full Body Massage is €60, Deep Tissue Massage is €45 to €75, Hot Stone Massage €45 to €100, Reflexology €45 to €70 and Sports Massage €45 to €75. Thai Massage is €75, and the Pearl Spas Signature Massage is €75 to €100. Lymphatic Massage costs €75, and Balinese Massage €70 to €100.

Facials include the Pearl Spas Signature Facial at €60, the Hydra Facial at €75, the Ayurvedic Facial at €65, the Ocean Secrets Facial at €95 and the Gentlemen Facial at €95, along with Korres facials at €65 and DermaSonic facials from €75 to €105. Body Scrubs are €45 and Body Wraps €55, and hands and feet are covered by the Pearl Manicure and Pearl Pedicure at €40 each. The menu also lists innovative beauty treatments and laser hair removal.

Ayurveda and hammam rituals

Ayurveda is a traditional Indian approach to wellbeing, and the spa has a long list of treatments from that tradition. Abhyangam is €70, Four Hand Synchronized Abyangham €150, Shirodhara €120, Pizhichil €180, Udwarthanam €85 to €120, Ayurvedic Head Massage €45 and Ayurvedic Back Massage with Herbal Compress €45. A hammam is a steam-based bathing ritual with Moroccan and Turkish forms, and the spa lists several. Traditional Turkish Hammam and Traditional Moroccan Hammam are each €65, the Royal Moroccan Hammam is €75, and the Aromatic, Olive and Whitening Hammam rituals run from €70 to €75. For two people there are the Turkish Hammam Couples Ritual at €140, the Moroccan Hammam Couples Ritual at €150 and the Pearl Spas Signature Hammam Couple Treat at €240. The Bridal Hammam is €140, and the Romantic Getaway €180.

Couples, families, teens and groups

The menu is not just for adults on their own. A Kids Massage and a Kids Chocolate Wrap cost €35 each, a Teenage Facial for ages 13 to 19 is €50, and Unicorn Facial is €45. Mums to Be is €70, and the Manscape treatments run from €80 to €110. Couples can choose from the packages above, the couples' hammam rituals or the Romantic Getaway at €180.

Gift vouchers, booking and getting there

Gift vouchers can be bought online for any treatment or package, and treatments can be booked by choosing a date and time. Vouchers are valid for 3 months from the date of purchase, are not refundable or transferable, and can be redeemed in their entirety at both Pearl Spas locations. Bring a printed copy to the spa desk. Bookings are highly recommended and are subject to availability.
