Gianpula Village is a large clubbing and events complex in the countryside on the edge of Rabat, with ten separate spaces and more than 200 events a year. Visitors can go for club nights, themed parties and festivals, or reserve a VIP table for a group. Enquiries go through the VisitMalta.co.uk form on this page.

Gianpula Village is Malta's best-known clubbing complex, laid out across green countryside on the outskirts of Rabat rather than along a seafront strip. It is a place for adults who want a full night out: big sound systems, open-air dance floors, guest DJs from abroad and a calendar that runs to more than 200 events a year. This page is written for UK visitors deciding whether to include it in a Malta trip.

The village is listed in our directory of nightclubs in Malta and in the wider group of entertainment venues in Malta.

From a single venue to a village

The story starts in 1980, when Gianpula Village was founded. Large outdoor nights under the stars became its trademark, and over the decades one venue grew into a complex of several spaces. Today the line-up of venues takes in Marrakech, Penthouse, The Club House, The Rooftop, The Vault, Block 11, Club Phoenix, Gianpula Fields, Groove Gardens and the Gianpula Main Room, so there is usually more than one atmosphere on offer.

Names that have played here include Carl Cox, Charlotte De Witte, Peggy Gou, Nina Kraviz, Amelie Lens, Boris Brejcha, Martin Garrix, Steve Aoki, Fatboy Slim, Maceo Plex and Tale of Us, alongside Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike and Tinie Tempah. If you want to see what a single room is like, the Gianpula Main Room page describes it in more detail.

What is on

The event calendar can be filtered by month, music style and festival. Styles include commercial, techno, house and a 2000s and 2010s sound. Regular themed formats include Boozy Bingo, a Sunday afternoon party with dress codes such as Pyjama Drama and Golden Oldies, and seasonal nights such as Halloween Village and a Christmas edition of Bring It Back. Keeping an eye on the calendar is worthwhile, since the music style changes from one date to the next.

Techno and house fans have the Glitch Club Series, which brings in a guest headliner, plus the two-day Glitch Festival, scheduled for 12 and 13 August 2027 from 6pm. Tickets for each event are bought separately from table reservations. Visitors who like to read up on the area first can browse our Mdina and Rabat guide, since the village sits close to both.

VIP tables and group bookings

A table lets a group claim its own space and skip the queue. Choose an event, pick an area and table type, enter your details and pay a deposit to confirm. Options run from high standing tables for up to six guests to regular sofas, premium sofas beside the DJ booth, premium balcony sofas and premium sofas by the dance floor, depending on the venue. Every table comes with table service and priority entry, with bottle service delivered to the table. Fixing a lift or transfer in advance is sensible, because a countryside venue is not somewhere to wait for a taxi at closing time.

A minimum spend applies, goes towards your drinks on the night and varies by event. The deposit secures the table and comes off that spend. Guests are asked to dress smartly, and the booking holder's ID card is checked on arrival. For birthdays, stag and hen parties or corporate evenings, the VIP team will put together a bespoke table arrangement.

Getting there and planning your trip

The village is on the edge of Rabat, so many visitors base themselves in the old centre and look at hotels in Mdina and Rabat or compare areas in our guide on where to stay in Malta. Since events run late, plan your return journey before you go. For daytime ideas around a late night, see our list of things to do in Malta.

If you would like to ask about a particular night, a table or a group celebration, use the VisitMalta.co.uk enquiry form on this page and we will pass your message to Gianpula Village.
