GOZOblu offers private skippered boat tours to the Blue Lagoon, Comino and the coast of Gozo, with a base in Għajnsielem on Gozo and another in Mellieħa on Malta. Tours run from two to eight hours on a 24 foot or 30 foot RIB. Enquiries go through the VisitMalta.co.uk form on this page.
GOZOblu runs private boat tours from Gozo and the north of Malta, taking small groups to the Blue Lagoon, the caves and bays of Comino and the quieter coastline of Gozo on skippered rigid inflatable boats. Unlike a shared excursion boat, the whole vessel is yours for the booking, so you choose how long you stay, where you swim and when you move on. It suits couples, families and small groups of friends who would rather set their own pace than follow a timetable.
The business is a small family firm with more than twelve years in tourism, and it added private boat tours to its range more recently. It has a base in Għajnsielem on Gozo and another in Mellieħa in the north of Malta. You will find it in our directory of boat charter in Malta.
The boats
Two boats are offered. The first is a 24 foot rigid inflatable boat, or RIB, powered by a Yamaha 250 V6 engine. It has cushioned seating, shade from the sun, a Bluetooth sound system and storage for coolers, snorkelling gear and personal belongings, and it carries the safety equipment you would expect. A RIB is a fast, stable boat with an inflatable collar, a good choice for reaching small coves and sea caves that larger vessels cannot enter.
The second is a 2025 Zodiac Medline 900, a 30 foot luxury RIB with twin Yamaha 300 V6 engines delivering 600hp in total. It is the roomier, faster option, with ergonomic seating, shaded areas and premium onboard sound, and it is also used for sunset cruises, family days out, fishing and freediving trips. Both boats are insured and carry life jackets, navigation and emergency equipment. Every tour includes a licensed local skipper, so you do not need any boating experience.
Tours and routes
Tours run from two hours to a full day. The two hour trip covers the Blue Lagoon, the Comino caves and Gozo. The three hour Full Comino Loop adds the Crystal Lagoon, and longer trips stretch out the time in the water and bring in more of Gozo: four hours for Comino with a touch of Gozo, five hours for an extended Comino and Gozo tour, six hours for the highlights of both islands, and eight hours for Comino and the full Gozo coastline.
Sunset Magic is a three hour cruise at golden hour, with champagne and views suited to couples and special occasions. A custom adventure, from two to eight hours, lets you choose destinations, activities and pace. Our guide to the Blue Lagoon on Comino explains what to expect at the most famous stop, and our Gozo guide covers the island you will be cruising around.
Stops on the route list include Blue Lagoon, Crystal Lagoon, Santa Maria Bay, the Comino caves, Elephant Rock, Cominotto, Ramla Bay, San Blas Bay, Dahlet Qorrot Bay, Mġarr ix-Xini Bay, Wied il-Għasri and a number of hidden beaches.
Fishing and freediving
For guests who want something more active there are fishing and freediving charters on the private boat. No previous experience is needed for either. On freediving trips a certified trainer is on board to guide you, and you dive on a single breath to wrecks, reefs and caves, without tanks. Details of fishing charters are arranged on request, so tell the team what you have in mind when you get in touch.
What is included and how booking works
A private charter includes your skipper, all fuel, chilled bottled water, light snacks and snorkelling equipment. Some tours also include drone photography. There are no hidden costs. Longer trips can include a stop at a nearby spot for a meal if you tell the team your preferences when booking.
Booking is simple. You choose a tour or ask for a custom trip, give your preferred date and group size, and the team replies with availability. Once the date is confirmed you receive meeting instructions, and you meet your skipper at Mġarr Harbour on Gozo or at Ċirkewwa on Malta. In peak season, from June to September, booking one to two weeks ahead is recommended, and earlier for special dates or larger groups. The tours are family friendly and children are welcome, with life jackets available if you ask. Payment can be made by major credit card, bank transfer or cash. If you cancel 24 hours or more before the tour starts you receive a full refund, and in bad weather the tour is rescheduled or refunded. It is worth bringing sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, swimwear, towels, drinks, food and a camera.
Where to meet and where to stay
The Gozo base is on Triq Martinu Garces in Għajnsielem, close to the ferry harbour at Mġarr, and the Malta base is on Triq il-Marfa in Mellieħa, near the Ċirkewwa departure point. If you are choosing a hotel to suit a boat day, look at hotels in Gozo or hotels in Mellieħa. Our Mellieħa guide covers the north of Malta, and our Malta weather by month will help you pick a month for swimming.
To ask about availability, a particular route or a custom day, use the VisitMalta.co.uk enquiry form on this page and we will pass your message to the GOZOblu team.
