inlingua Malta

inlingua Malta is an English language school on Tigne Street in Sliema, set up in 1980 and part of the international inlingua franchise. It teaches English to teenagers, adults and children from the age of 5, from general courses to Cambridge, IELTS and TOEFL exam preparation, and it can arrange accommodation, airport transfers and activities.

The school and its method

The school is in Tigne Towers, at 92 Tigne Street in Sliema, and opens Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 17:00. Its photographs show a bright reception and lounge, frosted glass classrooms along a long corridor, a meeting room with a wall screen and teachers using interactive displays.

inlingua is part of a network of 309 centres in 39 countries. The teaching method focuses on using the language rather than reading about it: students speak English from the first lesson and build confidence through practice and correction. Trainers are fully certified, and every course includes a placement test on arrival, a certificate on completion and free WiFi in school.

English courses by age and level

General English is for ages 13 and over, from beginner to advanced, and teaches everyday conversation, grammar and vocabulary. Options include 20 or 30 lessons a week in classes of up to 13, mini group courses with only six students (from €425 a week for the 20 lesson version), a combined course of 20 group lessons and 10 private lessons a week (from €500 a week), and one to one tuition with a minimum of 10 lessons a week. The 30 lesson Intensive General English course costs €260 a week, and a high season supplement applies in summer.

Junior courses are for children aged 5 to 12 and are available as group, combined or one to one programmes. A Parent and Child programme lets a family learn together. Business English is for ages 18 and over, with a combined option and a Crash Intensity programme 30/40 option.

Exams, long stays and groups

Cambridge exam preparation covers PET, KET, FCE, CAE and CPE, and the school is a Cambridge ESOL authorised preparation and exam centre. Further courses include IELTS and TOEFL preparation and an Academic English Foundation Year programme. The school also offers the Erasmus+ programme, Bildungsurlaub courses and the my.inlingua online learning course, and an online placement test shows your level.

The school arranges accommodation in host families, hostels, shared apartments, family apartments and hotels, plus transfers.
