Jardinland has been growing plants and flowers in Għajn Tuffieħa for over 40 years. Its nurseries sit in the countryside of northern Malta, a short drive from the beaches and the village of Mellieħa, and the garden centre is open to the public every day of the week, including Sundays and feast days.
It is among the best-known names in our directory of garden centres in Malta. Visitors staying in the north can easily pair a visit with a day out, and our Mellieħa guide covers the area.
From vegetable greenhouses to a major nursery
The business began with Joseph Debono, who worked in the flower and plant trade from 1978 and bought the land at Għajn Tuffieħa, where he built greenhouses to modernise the nursery. At first the nursery grew vegetables. He later began importing and distributing agricultural products and building greenhouses for other farmers.
The decisions Joseph made more than three decades ago still shape the business: a commitment to quality and to keeping the reputation for excellence that the nursery has earned.
The garden centre opened to the public in 1996, and production moved from vegetables to flowers and plants. Today Jardinland is one of the major nurseries in Malta for growing, importing and distributing flowers, plants and seedlings. Joseph died in 2018, and the company ethos is carried on by his wife and sons.
What you can buy
The shop range covers indoor plants, seasonal plants, outdoor plants, citrus trees, herbs, cacti, soil and compost, pots, fertilisers and fresh flowers. Plants are grown in the nursery's own rich soil, and the nursery also imports from selected international suppliers. Classic and modern pots, vases and decorative accessories are on offer, and florists on site can help you style an indoor or outdoor space.
The nursery's pride is in what it grows itself. The shop highlights anthurium and calathea among the indoor plants, along with seasonal colour such as gerberas, pansies and primulas, so a visit in different months shows a different display. Visitors can walk the nurseries to get a closer feel for the greenery before buying.

Bouquets and special occasions
The florists make arrangements for weddings, receptions, funerals, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day, and will take on other occasions too. The online shop lets you organise a bouquet and have it delivered to your door, while special requests and orders can be sent to the team by message.
Flowers are sold for any type of occasion, and the florists put creativity into each arrangement. If you need something specific, say so when you send a special request, and it will be passed to the florists.

Agricultural supplies and getting there
Beyond the garden centre, Jardinland imports a wide range of agricultural products for professional farmers, so growers can find supplies from the same business that serves home gardeners.
Professional growers are served as well as home gardeners, and the business also works with the farmers' lands in mind, offering an extensive range of products so that crops and plants have what they need.
Manikata is close to some of the island's loveliest coast. Golden Bay and the best beaches in Malta are a few minutes away, and Popeye Village is nearby. To ask about plants, flowers or farm supplies, use the VisitMalta.co.uk enquiry form on this page and we will pass your message to Jardinland.
