Kaboom

Kaboom Superheroes Malta brings costumed comic-book heroes to children's birthday parties and company events anywhere on the island. The idea is simple: instead of a generic entertainer, your guests meet a character they already know, dressed in a replica costume and playing the part, so the photographs and the reactions are the main event.

For UK families holidaying in Malta, or British residents arranging a party for a child, it is a straightforward way to add a highlight to a villa garden, a hall or a hotel function room. Our children's activities directory lists other places and providers to build the rest of the day around, including Adventure Hub.

The characters you can book

Five heroes are listed: Superman, Spiderman, Captain America, The Flash and Batman. Spiderman is a popular choice for parties and corporate events, ducking and diving around the room. The Flash can deliver the birthday cake, in keeping with his speed, and Batman has relocated from Gotham City to the island for the occasion.

The performers use movie-quality replica costumes and play the characters in full. All of the heroes are police conduct checked, which is reassuring when strangers are meeting your children. If you are not sure which character suits the age and mood of your guests, ask through the enquiry form when you get in touch.

Packages and prices

The Super Party package is a one-hour appearance by the hero of your choice, with a cake presentation, photo opportunities and interaction with the guests. It costs €175. The birthday boy or girl receives a free special superhero gift, and any additional superheroes are half price.

The Super Appearance package is a shorter half-hour visit with the same cake presentation, photo opportunities, guest interaction and free gift. It costs €95, and additional superheroes get a 10% discount. Some costumes are not suitable for outdoor events in summer heat, and those bookings may be limited to the half-hour package.

Booking, payment and practical points

A €50 booking deposit is needed to secure your date, and until it is received the slot remains open to other customers. The full balance is due at least 10 days before the event or the booking is treated as cancelled, in which case the deposit is not refunded. Payment is by direct bank deposit. If you need to change the date, give at least 14 days' notice.

On the day, the host should make sure refreshments are available for the performer and that toilet facilities are adequate. Entertainers do not carry birthday cakes at events, and for events longer than one hour the performer takes a 15-minute break for every hour worked. Bookings are best made well in advance to avoid disappointment.

Planning a party from the UK

If you are travelling from Britain for a family celebration, the practical steps are the same as at home, with a few island-specific details. Choose a date, pick the hero, and settle the deposit early, because the balance is due ten days ahead and changes need two weeks' notice, so it is worth settling the date before you fly. Think about where the party will be held: a shaded indoor space or garden is kinder to a full costume than open ground in July or August, so our Malta weather guide is worth a look when choosing a month.

Because Kaboom is available throughout Malta, the venue can be a hotel function room, a rented villa garden or a hall, as long as refreshments and toilets are available for the performer. Our where to stay in Malta guide helps you pick an area, Malta holidays covers the wider trip, and things to do in Malta fills the days around the party. Families may also like Popeye Village or a bay from our best beaches in Malta guide, and hotels across Malta lists places to stay. When you are ready, use the VisitMalta.co.uk enquiry form on this page and we will pass your message to Kaboom.
