Mgarr Marina is the yacht marina at Mġarr Harbour on the island of Gozo, run by Harbour Management Ltd. Its slogan is your first choice when berthing in Gozo, and the harbour is the first stop for most people arriving on the island, so the marina sits right at the gateway to Gozo. Boat owners can reserve a berth online or through the Mgarr Marina app, and the marina office handles berthing enquiries and everyday questions.

The marina is listed on VisitMalta.co.uk under marina services in Malta. At the time of writing, new berthing reservations are paused, which is explained below, so please read that section before planning a visit.

Current status: maintenance after Storm Harry

Essential maintenance works are under way at the marina following damage caused by Storm Harry. As a result it is not accepting any berthing reservations for now, including short stays and limited-use berths. The marina team apologises for the inconvenience. There is no date given for reopening, so ask before you plan a passage to Gozo, and keep an alternative berth in mind. In the meantime, our Gozo guide can help you plan the rest of a trip, and the marina team's own notice asks for patience while work continues. Skippers who already hold a booking should confirm it directly before setting out, since the marina cannot take new reservations and arrival plans may need to change.

How berthing works

Once reservations reopen, there are two ways to book: through the online booking system, or through the Mgarr Marina app, which can be downloaded for Android and iOS. Either way you enter your personal details, your boat details and the date of berthing in three steps, and the berth is then reserved for your stay.

The website also carries a marina plan, details of the upgrade works, rules and regulations for berth holders and visitors, and a tariffs page. Tariffs sit on a separate page of the marina site, and the figures depend on your boat and dates, so ask the marina office for the tariff that applies to you.

Facilities, transport and local information

The amenities and surroundings page covers nearby facilities such as banks and petrol stations, and the transport options available from Mgarr, which is the first port of call for everyone arriving in Gozo. There are also links to local news for Malta and Gozo and to a live wind forecast, useful for judging a safe and smooth crossing, so a skipper can check conditions in one place before leaving port. Mġarr itself is a working harbour where passenger traffic arrives for the island, which is worth bearing in mind when you plan an approach. For ideas ashore, see our things to do in Malta guide and our guide to Blue Lagoon on Comino, which sits between the two main islands, and the Malta weather guide for seasonal conditions. Visiting crews who need a bed ashore can look at hotels in Gozo.

Contact, hours and finding the office
