Paradiso Gardens is a plant nursery, landscaping and outdoor living business with its nursery in the Rabat and Baħrija countryside and its offices in Santa Venera. It supplies trees, plants, ThermoWood decking, pools and spas, and designs and maintains gardens for homes and commercial properties. Enquiries go through the VisitMalta.co.uk form on this page.

Paradiso Gardens is the horticultural arm of IO Projects Group, set up in 2016 to give Malta's more discerning gardeners a better choice of ornamental, indigenous and plantation trees and plants. The business has grown into a full outdoor living service: it sells plants, designs and builds landscapes, supplies decking and installs pools and spas, all from one in-house team.

If you own a villa or a farmhouse here, are buying a home and want the garden sorted, or manage a commercial property that needs greening, it sits comfortably alongside the other businesses in our directory of garden centres in Malta.

Trees and plants from Mediterranean growers

The nursery specialises in sourcing and selecting trees, shrubs and ground covers. Most of the plant material comes from established growers in larger Mediterranean countries, which means the stock is already well adapted to hot, dry summers and mild, wetter winters. Every supplier conforms to EU plant health regulations.

That matters if you are used to a British garden. Malta's climate is very different, and our Malta weather guide explains why plants that thrive in the Cotswolds can struggle here, and why olive trees, indigenous shrubs and Mediterranean planting are such a sensible choice.

Landscaping, design and maintenance

Paradiso Gardens creates sustainable, tranquil landscapes for homes and commercial properties, and each project is tailored to the client. The work covers both hardscape (paving, structures, features) and softscape (planting and lawns), plus ponds, water features and modern irrigation systems. Design, build and finish are handled by the same project team, so you deal with one point of contact throughout.

The aim is to create unique outdoor living spaces that are functional and blend with their surroundings, through modern ecological design and efficient management. Imported materials come directly from suppliers, and the in-house project team provides the technical services, which keeps quality control and cost in one place.

Maintenance is offered too. It includes skilled tree cutting and pruning, soil enhancement, water and irrigation systems, fertilisation, plant replacements and pest control management. That is useful for second-home owners who spend part of the year in the UK; if you are weighing up a longer stay, our guide to relocating to Malta covers the practicalities of settling in.

ThermoWood decking, pools and spas

The decking range is ThermoWood, timber that is heat treated at between 180 and 220 degrees Celsius and sealed by high-pressure steam. Only heat and steam are used, no chemicals are added, and the finished product is fully recyclable. It is also sold as cladding.

For pools and spas, Paradiso Gardens designs around the owner's tastes and works in partnership with Aquavia Spa, a European hot tub manufacturer operating since 1988. A pool or spa is a pleasant answer to Malta's summers, though the island's coastline is hard to beat; see our best beaches in Malta for the alternative.

Finding Paradiso Gardens and planning your visit

The offices are in Santa Venera and the nursery is in the countryside near Rabat. The old walled city of Mdina is close by, so a nursery visit combines easily with a day out; start with our Mdina guide and our wider list of things to do in Malta.
