A family idea that became a children's department store

Lara Cuschieri, a mother of two, founded Swanky Boutique in 2016 with a focus on sustainability and well-made products. It has since become the exclusive Malta distributor for more than 80 children's brands from around the world, with thousands of selected products on its shelves and website.

The range is built around sustainable brands, from wooden market stalls and activity cubes to soft toys and books.

What the shop sells

The toy range includes wooden toys, building blocks, dolls and doll's houses, role-play kitchens and market stalls, ride-ons, musical instruments, educational games and workbenches. Books, puzzles, arts and crafts, baking sets and Tonies audio figures sit alongside outdoor items such as scooters, bicycles, kites and puddle suits.

For babies there are nappies and wipes, feeding and weaning products, bath-time items, strollers, carriers, travel cots and sleep aids. Nursery and play furniture covers beds, Montessori pieces, bookcases, rugs, night lights and wall stickers, and the clothing section runs from babygrows to coats, swimwear and shoes. Parties and giftware include wrapping, cards and favours. Gift boxes for new babies and a gift registry for baby showers and birthdays make larger occasions simpler, and gift vouchers range from €5 to €500.

Stock levels shown online as available are in stock and ready immediately, and sold-out lines are normally restocked monthly, with an option to be notified by email or text when an item returns. Faulty or incomplete products are handled through a claims process on the website, and product safety recalls are published there too. Delivery, collection and stores

Delivery is free across Malta and Gozo on orders above €30, and delivery below that is €3.95. Standard delivery takes up to three working days, with an express next-day option at checkout for an extra charge, and some items can arrive within 30 minutes through the Wolt app in Malta. The Mosta shop is at the former Tal-Lira premises next to a petrol station, down the road from Pama Shopping Mall. The Qormi boutique is about ten doors up from Maypole and the parish church of St Sebastian. Both are open six days a week, and the Mosta shop opens on Sunday mornings. Gift exchanges are accepted within 30 days, and international orders are quoted individually.
