The Camping World

The Camping World is a specialist shop in Paola for people who travel with a tent, a caravan, a motorhome or a car full of bikes. The business dates from 1988, began as a small family firm selling a handful of essential travel items, and has grown into a well-known Maltese source of camping, motorhome and adventure equipment. It is best known for its Thule range, from roof boxes to roof top tents.

What the shop sells

The core of the range is Thule, the Swedish maker of car-top and travel equipment. Categories include cargo carriers and platforms (cargo boxes, towbar carriers and roof baskets), bags and backpacks, roof and towbar tents, bike racks for the roof, towbar and boot, water sports carriers for kayaks and stand-up paddleboards, and baby and kids products such as strollers, bike trailers and child seats.

Beyond Thule, the shop stocks caravan and motorhome accessories: TV and multimedia systems, tableware and utensils, water systems, carpets and curtains, roof vents, snow chains, solar panels and batteries, Thetford products, generators and electrical equipment. Camping tents, cooking equipment, safety items and collapsible items sit alongside a dedicated pet section, which includes dog car harnesses and bike trailers. Gift cards are available too.

Prices are shown in euros on the website and some items can be pre-ordered. Roof top tents are the headline purchases: a Thule Kukenam three-person roof top tent is €2,400, a Thule Autana four-person tent is €3,600, and a Thule Foothill 2 two-person tent is €2,280.

Bike racks start at more modest figures. A Thule VeloLite 1-bike rack is €500, a VeloLite 2-bike rack is €635 and a VeloLite 3-bike rack is €745, while a Thule EuroWay G2 2-bike towbar platform is €560. A Thule Pacific 100 roof box is €400, and a Thule Paramount commuter backpack is €185. Treat these as a guide, because stock and offers change, and some products are sold on pre-order, so ask about availability and delivery time before you plan a trip around an item.

The team are camping and travel specialists who help with choosing the right rooftop box and with fitting advice, with an emphasis on honest advice and attentive after-sales care, so you are not left to work things out alone. Visiting Paola and planning time on the islands

The shop is at 57 Maggie Moran Street in Paola, open Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 18:30 and Saturday from 09:00 to 14:00.
