The Pro Clinic is a physiotherapy and sports medicine practice based at Malta's National Stadium in Ta' Qali. It is built around a simple idea: everyone you need should be on one floor, so you are not passed from one practice to another. Eight disciplines share the clinic, and the team treats athletes and non-athletes alike, from a sore back after a long flight to a rehabilitation programme after surgery.

Ta' Qali is in the middle of the island, close to Mdina and a short drive from Valletta, which makes it practical for UK visitors and residents who want to see a specialist while staying anywhere in Malta. The clinic is listed among our physiotherapists in Malta.

Physiotherapy and sports physio

Physiotherapy is the core service. Every session starts with an in-depth assessment and a diagnosis, followed by an explanation of what is causing the pain and a treatment plan. Techniques include manual therapy, spinal manipulation, acupuncture, Tecar, shockwave and exercise-based rehabilitation, supported by a fully equipped gym and testing equipment on site. The physiotherapists trained internationally.

Post-operative physiotherapy and sports physiotherapy are the two main practice areas. Post-op work is coordinated with surgeons and consultants on the island, and the sports team has treated elite athletes including footballers, rugby players, runners and swimmers. Conditions treated include ACL recovery, frozen shoulder, back pain and tendinopathies, and a course typically runs for four to eight sessions.

Sports doctor, PRP and orthopaedic services

The in-house sports doctor offers diagnostic consultations, including diagnostic ultrasound, injection therapy and second opinions, and often a single consultation is enough. Return-to-play decisions after an injury also sit with the sports doctor, who works with other healthcare professionals.

PRP treatment uses platelet-rich plasma prepared from your own blood and injected into the affected area. It is offered for chronic tendon problems, joint degeneration and stalled recoveries, typically as one to three injections. Orthopaedic consultancy is available by referral for surgical decisions, imaging review and specialist opinions, and orthopaedic support covers bracing, taping and post-surgical support pathways.

Osteopathy, massage and podiatry

Osteopathy is a hands-on approach that uses stretching, massage and gentle manipulation, and it is offered for back pain, headaches, posture and whole-body recovery, usually over a course of three to six visits. It suits people with pain, athletes, seniors and office workers.

Massage is available for 60 or 90 minutes. The therapist assesses you first and tailors the pressure, technique and style, and the options include deep tissue and sports massage. If you are unsure whether you need massage or a physiotherapy assessment, the clinic suggests booking physiotherapy first and it will then refer you on if that is right. Podiatry covers foot and gait care, including gait analysis, plantar fasciitis and custom orthotics, with an initial appointment and a follow-up.

Booking, hours and getting there

Booking starts by choosing a location, a service and a specialist, then a date and time, and the clinic confirms the slot; most are confirmed within an hour. The first assessment takes 45 to 60 minutes. Bring any recent X-rays, MRI or ultrasound images, digital or printed, and wear clothes you can move in, since you may be asked to walk, squat or hop.

The clinic opens Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 20:00 and on Saturday from 10:00 to 14:30, and it is closed on Sunday. Parking is free, there is a bus stop around 50 metres away and the building is fully wheelchair accessible. Detailed receipts are provided for insurance reimbursement. If you are staying nearby, see our guides to the walled city of Mdina and Valletta, the capital, or our list of things to do in Malta for time between appointments.
