Physiotherapy and osteopathy

Physiotherapy begins with a comprehensive initial consultation to identify the root cause of a problem. Clinic-based treatment follows, guided by assessment findings and ongoing re-testing, and it combines advanced manual therapy, dry needling, electrotherapy and other evidence-based methods. Personalised exercise prescription and rehabilitation are built around measurable goals and progress tracking, and can be delivered at the Sliema, Balzan or Qormi sites.

Osteopathy is available at the Balzan and Sliema sites. After an initial consultation, sessions use techniques such as soft tissue work and massage, joint mobilisation and gentle manipulation, stretching and fascia work, medical acupuncture and visceral osteopathy. The service covers back, neck, joint and muscle pain, posture and mobility, headaches and muscular tension, jaw dysfunction and strain from desk work or repetitive movements. Pelvic health osteopathy is also on the services list.

Pilates at The Studio

Pilates is offered in two forms. Matwork classes are taught by experienced, fully trained coaches, with an emphasis on injury prevention and client education. Groups are small so there is plenty of personal attention, and classes suit all levels. A class schedule and online booking are available.

Reformer Pilates is physiotherapist-led and uses specialised equipment for a wide range of core strengthening exercises. Sessions can be one to one or in small groups of two or three, and they suit all levels. Matwork and reformer sessions also form part of the pre-injury recovery offer, in a one-to-one or class setting.

Strength, conditioning and recovery

Strength and conditioning is run by highly experienced, fully qualified movement coaches who focus on correct movement patterns and client education. One-to-one and small group sessions are available at the Sliema and Balzan sites, with individualised, longevity-focused programmes and optional classes at Balzan. The service is tailored to athletes and to anyone who wants to improve performance, resilience and fitness.

Pre-injury recovery services include coach-led mobility sessions, ice baths and contrast therapy at Balzan, compression recovery boots at Balzan and Sliema, hydrotherapy at Sliema and sports massage. Sports massage is delivered by qualified therapists in 30 or 60 minute sessions, with optional recovery boots afterwards at Sliema and Balzan, aimed at easing muscle tension and supporting recovery. Free consultations are offered for strength and conditioning and for recovery services.

Visiting from the UK and getting started

Sliema is one of Malta's most popular bases for visitors, and the Rudolph Street site is easy to combine with a stay there. Our hotels in Sliema guide and where to stay in Malta page compare the area, and a strained muscle on holiday need not stop a trip. Residents will find more on settling in our Malta relocation guide.

The capital is close, as our Valletta city guide explains, and our things to do in Malta page and Malta weather guide help you plan around appointments. UK visitors can check flights to Malta. To arrange an appointment or class, use the VisitMalta.co.uk enquiry form on this page and we will pass your message to Rise Physio+.
