Vassallo Group is a Maltese multi-sector business group with its head office at The Three Arches on Valletta Road in Mosta. It brings together construction, joinery, property, elderly care, education, energy and hospitality businesses under one roof. Send your enquiry through the VisitMalta.co.uk form on this page and we will pass it to the group.
Vassallo Group is one of the larger private employers in Malta, with a history that begins in 1946 and a workforce of more than 1,900 people. Its head office stands at The Three Arches on Valletta Road in Mosta, a town best known for its great domed rotunda and only a short drive from the old capital.
What began as post-war clearance and rebuilding work has grown into a family of companies covering building, interiors, property, care homes, schooling, energy and hotels. On VisitMalta.co.uk the group is listed with the island's builders in Malta and among our corporate services providers.
From post-war rebuilding to a multi-sector group
The founder, Piju Vassallo, started out clearing war debris and helping to rebuild Malta after the Second World War. During the 1970s the business widened its construction portfolio with public and private projects, and a partnership with Danish firms introduced new building methods and raised standards on site.
The 1990s brought a change of direction. The group entered elderly care with CareMalta and opened Casa Arkati, described as Malta's first purpose-built home for older people, and it moved into education at the same time. The 2000s added property development and hospitality, including the Golden Sands Resort in 2005. In 2010 the group launched CaterEssence, and the St Elmo Bridge in Valletta, the capital was installed in 2012 as part of its construction work. HILA, a disability and community care service, followed in 2016.
More recent projects include the Vassallo Business Park in Naxxar, Campus Hub in Msida, the Mediterranean College of Sport in Balzan and Dar San Ġużepp, a CareMalta home in Gozo and its sights. In 2026 the group marks its 80th anniversary.
Construction, joinery and property
The building arm is Vassallo Builders, which works alongside Vassallo Joiners and a scaffolding business from the same Mosta base. Together they cover structural construction, bespoke furniture and joinery, and access scaffolding, so a developer or homeowner can deal with one group for several trades.
Vassallo Group Realty handles property, and the group also runs business centres in Sliema and Qormi, as well as the Vassallo Business Park in Naxxar. If you are weighing up a project in the north of the island, Mosta sits close to the walled city described in our Mdina guide.
Care, education, energy and hospitality
CareMalta and HILA run residential care for older people and support for people with disabilities. Learning Works and Campus Hub cover education and training, and Powerezi is the group's sustainable energy business. The group lists these sectors for enquiries: construction, care and elderly, joinery, property management, energy and education.
Hospitality sits alongside them. The group's portfolio includes boutique hotels in St Julian's and on the Tigné seafront, and an adults-only spa resort at Marfa Bay in Mellieħa. Visitors who want to explore that corner of the island can read our Mellieħa guide and browse hotels in Mellieħa.
Values and who it suits
The group's stated values are excellence, integrity, respect and innovation, and its motto is Building on Success. Its mission includes quality, sustainable growth, developing its people and contributing to the economy of Malta.
Typical enquirers are businesses and organisations looking for construction or fit-out, property management, energy or training partners, and families researching care options in Malta. Readers new to the island may find our about Malta page and the list of things to do in Malta useful background, and event organisers nearby can look at event planners 242.group, another Mosta-area business listed with us.
