Il-Veduta Restaurant

Il-Veduta is a family-founded restaurant on the Is-Saqqajja road in Rabat, set just outside the walls of Mdina, with a patio and a wide outlook across the island. The menu is Mediterranean, with a kids menu, takeaway and delivery, which makes it a practical stop for a mixed group after a morning among the old streets of the Silent City.

The story behind Il-Veduta

Il-Veduta was founded by Randolph and Paul Camilleri and has been running for 30 years, a milestone marked with an anniversary logo. The business is built on family values and a love of hospitality.

The building is a villa with Roman foundations in the Saqqajja area of Rabat. Rabat sits directly beside Mdina, so a visit fits naturally into a day that also takes in the old capital. The setting and the views

The patio has a 180-degree view, and the name itself, Veduta, is the Italian word for a view. Photographs show the dining rooms, the table settings and a sunset outlook, so it is worth asking for a table with a view when you reserve, particularly if you are hoping for the evening light.

The venue spreads over three floors and can serve up to 350 people in total. The third floor is kept for events and private functions, while the first and second floors suit larger groups. For a couple or a small family that scale is mostly useful to know about, because it shows the restaurant is used to groups and celebrations.

Seasonal dining hours apply. Lunch is from 11:00 to 15:00 throughout the year. Dinner runs from 18:00 with a last order at 22:00 from 1 October to 31 March, and a last order at 23:00 from 1 April to 30 September.
