Aqualuna

Aqualuna is a private beach club on the water's edge in Gżira, set in the Sliema Creek with sweeping views of Manoel Island and the Valletta skyline. At its heart is a large lido pool lined with sunbeds, and the club is built around the idea of switching off for a day, whether you want to swim, read, lunch or watch the sun go down over the harbour.

A day at the pool

The pool is the main attraction, with loungers arranged beside the water and the harbour behind them. The club is open to visitors all year round, and in the long Maltese summer it makes a calm alternative to a crowded public beach. The relaxed atmosphere is set by lounge music, and sundowners with views across the creek are part of the appeal. It suits couples, friends and families who want a day of carefree swimming and lunch without planning anything else, and it works equally well after a morning of shopping or sightseeing in nearby Sliema.

Facilities include a bistro serving a main menu and a poolside menu, so you can eat at a table or order to your sunbed, and a bar where staff mix cocktails, mostly classics with a twist. There are showers and toilets for an after-pool rinse or to freshen up before the evening, and free Wi-Fi covers the whole venue.

Sunbed and gazebo prices

Sunbeds are priced per person. A standard sunbed for a full day, 10:00 to 18:00, costs €25.00 from Monday to Thursday and €30.00 on Fridays to Sundays and public holidays. A half day, 14:00 to 18:00, costs €20.00 per person on every day of the week.

For two people, a gazebo costs €60.00 for a full day from Monday to Thursday and €70.00 from Friday to Sunday and on public holidays. A half-day gazebo is €50.00 on weekdays and €60.00 at weekends and on public holidays. Prices may change, so confirm them when you enquire. A half day suits a late start or a lazy afternoon, while the full day gives you the morning light and the longer stretch by the water.

Weddings, parties and corporate events

Aqualuna is also a private events venue, available all year round for weddings, celebrations, parties and corporate occasions. It is run by the team behind ST Hotels, 115 The Strand Hotel and The WaterFront Hotel, who have combined their hospitality experience to create a venue that suits both quiet days out and large gatherings.
