BodyShape Wellness is a small massage and body treatment studio in the heart of Sliema, the busy seafront town that many UK visitors choose as their base. It is run around the work of therapist Michelle Silva, whose focus is aesthetic and lymphatic massage, and its treatment list runs from a relaxing hour on the couch to longer, technique-heavy sessions built around specialist equipment.
If you are staying nearby, the studio is an easy addition to a break that already includes the promenade, shops and restaurants. Browse more places to unwind in our directory of spas in Malta, or see where Sliema sits among hotels in Sliema when planning your stay.
Signature massage and the Shaping Detox
The studio's own method is the Shaping Detox, a 90 minute session at €350 that combines several hands-on techniques with a cavitation machine. A package of ten sessions is offered at €3000. The signature massage more broadly draws on a range of techniques including reflexology, shiatsu, lymphatic drainage, sculpting, relaxation, kneading, acupressure and stretching, and uses natural oils.
Clients also receive guidance on caring for themselves at home, including food choices built around fruit and vegetables. This is general lifestyle guidance from a massage therapist, not medical advice, and anyone with a health concern should speak to their own doctor first.
Because Malta is warm for much of the year, many visitors look at treatments like these as a way to slow down between sightseeing days. Our Malta weather guide shows which months suit a balance of beach time and indoor treatments.
Lymphatic and body massage menu
Lymphatic work is the core of the menu. Options include lymphatic drainage at 60, 75 and 90 minutes, with the 60 minute session priced at €180, as well as lymphatic relax, Swedish, deep tissue and sculpting massage. There is also a prenatal massage, a post surgery massage for one area, and a relaxing massage for children aged six to twelve that must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Other body options include dry brushing, a full body scrub, CBD massage, EM Sculpt, cavitation for one area, lipo laser, a butt lift treatment, infrared sauna and a four-hands massage for two therapists working together. Most treatments can be bought singly or as a package of six or ten sessions, which suits longer stays or residents.
Longer sessions are available on request, though extra time during a session is charged additionally.
Facial, foot and wellness treatments
Facial treatments include a dry scrub, gua sha, a clay and coffee face mask, a lymphatic buccal massage, vacuum treatment and radio frequency. Red light therapy is offered for the face and body, and also appears in the Total Body Bliss package, a three hour programme priced at €450 that links dry brushing, a lymphatic drainage massage, facial massage with cavitation and a scalp massage.
Foot detox is a gentle session in which the feet rest in a warm basin while an ionising device runs. It is one of the shorter and lower-priced options and works well alongside a longer treatment.
The studio also has a small online shop of natural products, such as a rosemary and castor hair oil at €20 and a pulling oil for teeth and gums at €13, plus essential oils and soaps when in stock. If you are touring the island, our things to do in Malta guide helps you plan the rest of your day around an appointment.
Booking, opening hours and getting there
The studio is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 8pm, with weekend sessions by request. It is a professional wellness practice offering therapeutic massage only, and it does not provide sensual or non-professional services.
