Services, hours and details last checked against Bubbles Dive Centre's own published information.

Bubbles Dive Centre is an SSI Career Centre in Marsalforn, Gozo, offering guided dives in groups of no more than four, recreational courses, technical training and professional programmes. Prices are published for guided dives, courses and equipment hire. Enquiries can be sent through the VisitMalta.co.uk form on this page.

Bubbles Dive Centre is based in Marsalforn on the north coast of Gozo, the smaller and quieter of Malta's main islands, and it offers a very personal style of diving. Its guarantee is that you will never dive in a group of more than four customers, which sets it apart from the large commercial operators. From a first try dive to professional and technical instructor training, a single team handles it all.

On VisitMalta.co.uk the centre appears in our directory of dive centres in Malta. Gozo is a short ferry hop from the main island, and our Gozo guide covers the island for visitors who plan to base themselves there.

Small groups and a personal welcome

Bubbles emphasises personalised service and tailored adventures, from the welcome on arrival through to customised dive programmes. Guided diving is led by a professional guide, with a maximum of four customers per guide, and Open Water and Advanced Open Water divers are never mixed in the same group. All equipment is washed and prepared by the team, so you can relax once you surface.

Guided dives include transport to and from the site, and there is a complimentary pick-up and drop-off at your hotel. If you are choosing where to stay, see hotels in Gozo and our wider where to stay in Malta guide.

A career centre and training academy

The centre moved from being a Platinum PADI Career Development Centre, one of ten worldwide, to become an SSI Career Centre and Extended Range Instructor Training Centre. It is the only SSI Career Centre in Gozo and Malta and one of five in the world. The team includes two in-house Platinum Instructor Trainers and five Assistant Instructor Trainers, covering recreational professional training and specialised extended range instructor training.

That depth means a diver can progress from a first try dive all the way to a 100 metre hypoxic instructor rating without changing centre. The team includes David Hayler-Montague, a Platinum Course Director and founder, and Lee Rigby, Director of Diving.

Recreational courses and prices

All courses include materials, certification and full equipment including a dive computer. The Try Dive (SSI Basic Diver) takes you to 12 metres with an SSI professional and costs €45, and the whole programme can be credited towards the Scuba Diver or Open Water course within six months.

The SSI Open Water Diver course costs €420. It is open from age 10, has six academic sessions, six pool sessions and four open water sessions, reaches 18 metres and takes 16 to 32 hours, with no prerequisite beyond being fit to swim. The Advanced Adventurer course, at €360, lets you try five specialties with one dive each, to 30 metres, and counts towards full specialties later.

Specialty courses include Diver Stress and Rescue (€350), Deep Diving to 40 metres (€210), Wreck Diver (€250), Decompression Diver (€375), Cavern Diver (€325) and Nitrox (€110). Others cost from €110 to €360, among them Boat Diver, Night Diving, Navigation and Sidemount.

Technical diving

For divers who want to go beyond recreational limits, Bubbles runs SSI Extended Range courses. Foundations (€300) is a confined-water workshop that sharpens buoyancy, trim and finning with technical kit. Extended Range itself (€750, helium extra) prepares you for decompression dives to 45 metres using sidemount or twinset, with trimix and nitrox decompression gases, and Technical Extended Range (€850, helium extra) reaches 60 metres.

Hypoxic Trimix (€1000, helium extra) trains divers for dives to 100 metres with at least three stage cylinders. Further programmes cover cavern and wreck penetration at €450 each, Technical Wreck at €600 and a non-diving Gas Blender course at €250.

The centre is one of the few with staff fully qualified to teach cavern diving, and Gozo has caverns suited to it.

Guided diving and equipment hire

Guided shore diving costs €50 for a single dive, €43 per dive for two or more, €38 each for six or more and €35 each for ten or more. A night dive adds €10.

Full kit hire is €15 per dive or €20 per day, a torch is €15 per day and a dive computer €10 per day. A dive computer is compulsory on any dive deeper than 18 metres and recommended on every dive.

Check the Malta weather guide when picking a month, and if you plan a day trip, our Blue Lagoon guide covers Comino. Non-divers can browse things to do in Malta and the best beaches in Malta, or book a boat day with Aloha Boat Charters Malta.

Conservation and getting in touch

The centre was the first PADI Eco Centre in Gozo and Malta in 2023 and is now a partner in SSI's Blue Oceans initiative. Its own Bubbles Eco-Initiative runs a seagrass replantation project and a study monitoring invasive species, and it works with NGOs on open presentations and clean-ups.

If you are travelling from the UK, check flights to Malta and allow time for the ferry to Gozo. To ask about guided dives, a course or technical training, use the VisitMalta.co.uk enquiry form on this page and we will pass your message to Bubbles Dive Centre.
