Business English and professional communication

The Business Communication courses cover the skills you need to work in an international setting: taking part in meetings, giving presentations and writing emails. You can study in a mini group or choose a combination programme that mixes group sessions with individual coaching, and you decide how many contact hours a week suit you.

English for Specific Purposes courses target particular fields, including energy and oil and gas, finance and banking, human resources and purchasing, for lawyers, finance staff and other specialists who need the vocabulary of their own sector. Individual training begins with a needs analysis in your first session, after which the trainer builds a bespoke programme. Management English classes draw on material from York Associates authors, and courses on leading people and managing projects are also listed.

General English 30+ is designed for adults over 30 who want to improve their English among like-minded colleagues in a professional environment, and a combination version adds a specialist focus. Trainers are experienced, qualified English teachers who are mature native speakers with backgrounds in business and teaching, and their coaching draws on real management experience.

Teacher training and Erasmus+ courses

ETI runs short, intensive continuing professional development courses for teachers and other education staff from Malta and abroad, and all of them are eligible for Erasmus+ funding. Topics include CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning), English language development, methodology for primary, secondary, vocational and adult education, and technology in the classroom, including artificial intelligence.

Other courses address diversity in education, teaching pre-school children, academic writing and presentations for university staff, and supporting learners with special educational needs. Courses last one or two weeks, groups can request a customised programme, and ETI can deliver training abroad with at least three months' notice. In-company training and international team and leadership courses are also available.

Facilities, accommodation and your stay

The institute operates from a modern training centre with interactive boards, video and audio material and an e-learning platform, and the Cuba cafe and bistro is part of the facilities. A social programme and transport information are provided for visitors.

For accommodation, ETI lists host families, hotels, an in-house residence and self-catering apartments, so you can choose by budget and preference. If you want to arrange your own room, see our guide to hotels in Sliema and St Julian's. Our guides to things to do in Malta and the best beaches in Malta help you plan time off, and our Valletta city guide covers the capital. Check the Malta weather guide and flights to Malta before you book, and see CLA Malta if your trip involves company or relocation matters.

How to enquire

Tell ETI what you want to achieve, whether that is better presentations, a specialist English course or a teacher development week. The courses are tailor-made, and you can choose the number of contact hours each week and whether to follow group or individual training, so it helps to mention your sector, your level and how long you plan to stay. To begin, use the VisitMalta.co.uk enquiry form on this page and we will pass your message to ETI.
