Who GBS Malta is and how it is regulated

GBS Malta is run by GBS HE Malta and holds MFHEA Licence Number 2022-010 from the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority, the independent regulator for the sector. Its courses are aligned with the Malta Qualifications Framework and the European Qualifications Framework, which is the way Malta describes the level of a qualification, from foundation awards up to master's degrees.

The college is part of Global Education, a group that serves more than 60,000 students across 12 countries, and the wider GBS brand began in 2010 as a specialist training centre for finance and investment banking. GBS also runs campuses in Dubai and in London, Manchester, Birmingham and Leeds, but this page covers the Malta campus only.

Programmes are described in credits. The BSc degrees carry 60 ECTS, or 120 UK credits, each year, and the master's courses carry 90 ECTS, or 180 UK credits. Assessment mixes formative tasks, which give feedback but no grade, with graded summative work such as essays, case studies, presentations and posters, marked as Distinction, Merit or Pass at the higher levels.

Teaching combines academic study with real business experience, with lecturers drawn from industry. Students can study on campus or online, with the same level of teaching and support on both routes.

Living and studying in St Julian's

The campus sits in St Julian's, an area of cafes, seafront bars, shops and cultural attractions, with good transport links to Valletta and the rest of the island. Malta is safe, English speaking and sunny, with more than 300 sunny days a year. For a UK family, flights are short and the time difference is small, which makes visits and moves manageable. You can start planning with our Malta relocation guide, the Malta weather guide and hotels in Sliema and St Julian's for a first visit.

Malta is a small island, so the campus is never far from the coast. Our best beaches in Malta guide is a useful companion for weekends, and the about Malta page gives a wider picture of daily life, language and culture for newcomers from the UK.

The college also lists services on its student pages, including visas, accommodation, student finance, scholarships, events and a student referral scheme. Detailed terms are given by the college, so ask for them when you enquire.
