Healthy Habits is the nutrition counselling practice of Arnika Suska, a German-certified nutritionist who lives in Malta and meets clients in person in Swieqi or online. She works with weight management, irritable bowel syndrome and food intolerances, skin nutrition and anti-ageing, in English, German and Polish. Enquiries go through the VisitMalta.co.uk form on this page.

Healthy Habits is a one-person nutrition counselling practice run by Arnika Suska, a German-certified nutritionist who now lives in Malta. Her starting point is that eating habits are as much about attitudes and beliefs as they are about menus, and that even a perfectly planned diet achieves little if it has not clicked in the mind. Sessions are gentle, paced by the client and focused on mindful eating.

The practice is listed in our directory of nutritionists in Malta, where you can also look at other practitioners such as A New Better Life. Because sessions work online as well as in person, it suits UK residents who are spending time in Malta or planning a move.

Arnika's background and approach

Arnika trained and studied in Germany, Australia and the United States. Her main areas of competence are weight loss through mindful eating and counselling for irritable bowel syndrome, a subject she knows personally: after years of appointments that produced little, she took her own health in hand through diet, supplements, herbal therapies and exercise, and has brought that experience into her work.

She describes her method as scientifically sound but practical, so recommendations can be followed and kept up. Nothing is extreme, and a change in diet is not about eating cabbage alone. You choose the pace, and your needs and preferences are built into the structure of the plan.

Areas of expertise

Four areas are named: weight management, IBS and food intolerances, skin nutrition and anti-ageing. The practice speaks to people who struggle to lose a few kilos, who have tried several diets and slipped back into old habits, who live with bloating or stomach discomfort, or who simply want to eat for better health.

On food intolerances, Arnika points out that at least one person in five reacts to certain ingredients, such as gluten, lactose or fructose, and that symptoms can show up quickly after a meal or over the following one to three days. This page describes the services offered and is not medical advice; your own consultation is the place to discuss your circumstances.

Consultations and prices

The journey has three steps. A free preliminary call lasts 15 minutes and is held online. The first consultation is a 60 minute deep dive into your health history and goals, including a case history analysis, a tailored 14 day diet plan, and guidance on blood tests and supplements, at €120. Follow-ups every two weeks last 20 to 30 minutes, come with an updated 14 day plan, supplement adjustments and educational material, and cost €100. First and follow-up sessions can be in person or online.

Sessions run in English, German and Polish. Free downloads, recipes and tips are also shared through the practice's site.

Each plan is written around your health history and tastes, and the follow-up rhythm keeps you accountable without overwhelming your week. Clients who are only in Malta for a season can start online before they arrive and carry on from home afterwards.
