A New Better Life, known as ANBL, is a group fitness and nutrition studio at the YUE Complex in Naxxar, with live online sessions as an alternative. Members train in short coach-led classes and follow a personalised eating plan from a qualified dietitian. To ask about joining, use the VisitMalta.co.uk enquiry form on this page and we will pass your message to the studio.

ANBL, short for A New, Better Life, is a fitness and nutrition studio in Naxxar that runs its training around short, structured group classes. Each session lasts about 35 minutes on the timetable, and members choose between training in the studio, joining a live class over video from home, or following a recorded session when the day does not suit a fixed time.

The studio is one of the options on our lists of gyms in Malta and nutritionists in Malta, because every membership pairs exercise with a personalised eating plan.

Who runs it and who it suits

ANBL was founded by Matthaeus Grasso, who holds a BSc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Sciences from the UK and has more than ten years in the health and fitness industry. The team around him includes qualified personal trainers, a graduated nutritionist, a qualified dietitian and other sports professionals.

Classes are open to women and men of all ages from 18 upwards, and younger people can attend with a parent or guardian. Whether you are starting again after a long break or building on fitness you already have, the programme is designed to be scaled to you. For UK readers planning a longer stay, our Malta relocation guide and digital nomad guide cover the wider picture of settling in, and a local studio with early and evening slots is an easy way to keep a routine going.

Group sessions in the studio and online

The in-studio classes are deliberately capped in size so that coaches can give each person real attention while the room keeps its energy. A typical week mixes resistance training, circuits, body-weight exercises, HIIT (high-intensity interval training), mobility and recovery work, all within a full-body plan.

The studio offers 26 sessions a week, repeating every weekday from Monday to Saturday. The earliest start is 5:30 in the morning, there are classes through the morning, and on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday there are also sessions at 3:10 pm and 6:15 pm. Saturday has two morning classes. Times are Malta local time, which is useful to know when you are booking from the UK.

Training from home works the same way: up to six live sessions a day over video, with coaches giving the same personal attention as in the studio, or a recorded coach-led class whenever you like. Members who come to Naxxar get showers, lockers, changing rooms and free street parking nearby.

Nutrition, accountability and extras

Every membership includes a fully personalised eating plan from a qualified dietitian, with ongoing monitoring, so training and food are planned together rather than separately. The plan is built to give your body what it needs without leaving you feeling deprived. ANBL describes its method as evidence-informed, and the focus is on sustainable habits, confidence and fitness.

Members also receive daily support from their coaches and the dietitian, regular one-to-one and group milestone check-ups, and access to an online community for motivation. Free downloadable e-books cover recipes, meal prep, portion sizes and a workout builder, and anyone who downloads one also receives a monthly e-book on subjects such as fat loss and toning, fitness, health and stress management. Nothing on the page is medical advice, so speak to your own doctor first if you have a health concern.

Visiting Naxxar and starting out

Naxxar sits towards the middle of the island, which makes the studio simple to reach from most holiday areas by car or bus. If you are planning a trip, our where to stay in Malta guide helps you choose a base, and the Malta weather guide explains what to expect by month if you want to combine training with things to do in Malta such as days at the best beaches in Malta or a walk through historic Mdina.

To begin, tell the team what you want to achieve. Someone will call you back to discuss a starting point, available session times and fees, and filling in the optional questionnaire is not required. Use the VisitMalta.co.uk enquiry form on this page and we will pass your message to the studio.
