JP & Associates

JP & Associates is a small, personally run accountancy and audit practice in Balzan, a village in the middle of Malta. It is led by Jesmond Psaila, a certified public accountant and registered auditor who set up on his own in 1995 after gaining considerable experience with the big four firms. Audit, accountancy and tax

The work is split between two departments. The audit section prepares audited financial statements and the taxation matters that follow from them, in line with the Companies Act and the requirements of the Maltese tax authorities. The accountancy section carries out the accounting function for corporate and non-corporate clients, and also prepares VAT returns and payroll.

VAT is handled from computation through to submission, as the VAT Act requires, and the payroll team speaks directly to each client so that payslips and returns fit the way that particular business operates. Because the team is small, the service adjusts to the needs of each client instead of following a fixed package.

Team size and the move to new offices

The practice currently has four members of staff, each allocated to one of the two departments. Growth in the audit section over recent months created the need for another colleague there. The set-up has grown steadily since 1995 and is moving into new offices in Balzan Valley, with a rebrand and website upgrade under way.
