Kasarreda began in Modica, in south-east Sicily, in 2017 with a simple aim: a furniture shop that ordinary households could afford, stocked with well-chosen pieces that offer good value for the price. The business grew quickly, adding a larger second store in Modica in 2018, and in 2019 it crossed the channel to open Kasarreda Malta in Marsa. The Malta store came about because shoppers from Malta had become a significant share of customers in the Sicilian branches, so opening on the island was a natural next step.

The Marsa showroom

The Malta branch was set up properly from the start, with 1,600 square metres combining a display floor, a warehouse and an after-sales service. Having stock on site matters in Malta, where waiting weeks for a sofa or a bed to arrive from abroad is a familiar frustration. The Sicilian side of the business now runs a 4,000 square metre covered warehouse with racking nine metres high, holding more than 2,500 products ready for delivery.

The showroom opens Monday to Friday from 9am to 7pm, and from 9am to 1pm on both Saturday and Sunday, which makes a weekend morning visit easy to fit in.

What you can buy

Kasarreda sells furniture and home furnishings for the whole house, chosen to balance quality against price. Displays include complete room settings such as modern fitted kitchens, so you can see how pieces work together before you buy. Promotions run throughout the year, and stock held in the warehouse can be delivered quickly rather than ordered from scratch.

For rooms with awkward measurements or a particular look in mind, the in-house furnishers work out made-to-measure solutions. Appointments can be booked ahead, which is the best way to get their full attention when planning a kitchen or furnishing several rooms at once.

A growing Sicilian group

The first Kasarreda was a 300 square metre shop in Modica with a small warehouse beside it. As the business grew, the warehouse expanded so that more of the range could be sold from stock. After Malta, Kasarreda opened its largest store at Comiso in 2021, followed by a showroom in Syracuse. The company behind the brand is Gieffe Arredi, based in Modica. Its people are central to the way it works: staff aim to be close to customers, flexible about their needs and focused on the right price, so that shoppers feel at home in the store.
