M.A.A

M.A.A, short for M.A.& A. Services Ltd, is a Maltese building services contractor and the official distributor of Daikin air conditioning on the island. It designs, installs and maintains air conditioning, ventilation, chilled water and building management systems for hotels, hospitals, offices, banks, educational venues and homes. The firm has more than sixteen years of experience and works from offices in Attard and Qormi.

On VisitMalta.co.uk it appears in our directory of air conditioning companies in Malta. If you are a developer, hotelier, business owner or property investor weighing up a cooling or ventilation project, this page explains what the firm offers and how to start a conversation.

Daikin distribution and engineering

Daikin was founded in Osaka in 1924 and now trades in over 150 countries, and M.A.A holds the official distributor role for the brand in Malta. That gives clients a single local point of contact for equipment, installation and aftercare, instead of dealing with a manufacturer overseas.

The firm's own approach is described as precision engineering with advanced technology. It handles commercial and residential air conditioning applications, including window, split and packaged units, chillers and precise air conditioning for sensitive spaces, as well as boiler rooms, hot water services, central heating, steam installations and refrigeration.

Services from design to maintenance

The company's service range follows a project from first idea to handover. The build-up stage covers engineering analysis and design, working drawings, a method statement, a programme of works with budgetary estimates, health and safety planning, technical submittals for approval, and insurance and security.

Engineering consultancy focuses on heating, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration for residential, commercial and industrial property. Maintenance includes preventative servicing for commercial heating and cooling systems, project management coordinates the different trades and suppliers, and air quality work targets better ventilation and filtration indoors.

Mechanical installations, VRF air conditioning, ventilation, chilled water systems, HVAC and building management systems make up the core list. VRF stands for variable refrigerant flow, a system in which one outdoor unit serves many indoor units, common in hotels and office blocks.

Projects across the islands

The portfolio is unusually broad. It includes hotels such as the Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz on the island described in our Gozo guide, the Salini Resort, Santana Hotel, Grand Harbour Hotel and Hotel Valentina, together with Domus Zamittello, a renovated palazzo in the capital covered by our Valletta city guide.

Heritage and public venues feature too, among them the Grandmaster's Palace, Esplora Science Centre, the Hypogeum and Tarxien Temples, and Malta International Airport. Visitors to the neolithic site can read about it in our Hypogeum Ħal Saflieni guide, and anyone arriving by air will find our flights to Malta guide a useful companion.

Healthcare and sport projects include St James Hospital, Gozo General Hospital and the indoor National Pool Complex at Ta' Qali, where four 500kW heat pumps were installed. Banking work spans several branches of HSBC, Bank of Valletta and Lombard, and the commercial list covers SkyParks Business Centre, Malta Enterprise, supermarkets and manufacturing premises.

Landmark residential and mixed-use schemes include Mercury Towers in St Julian's, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, and the Fortina redevelopment in Sliema.

Standards and people

The firm has built a reputation for finishing contracts on time and within budget. Staff are OMAS certified, and the company runs quality records, a warranty engineer, a health and safety plan and equipment maintenance schedules for each project. Its stated aim is to be recognised for quality products, reputable service and value for money.

It is an equal opportunity employer that invests in training, and it deploys experienced personnel to oversee projects from start to finish.

Where to find them and how to start

The company has two addresses: 4 and 5 Mdina Road in Attard, and Centre House, Level 1, Valletta Road in Qormi. Both are in the central belt of the island, close to Mdina and Rabat in our Mdina guide and within easy reach of the main roads to the airport and the northern resorts.

Large projects benefit from early involvement, so share the type of building, location, floor area and target date when you make your enquiry. If you are choosing where to base yourself while a project progresses, see our guide to where to stay in Malta.
