MaltaNutrition.com

MaltaNutrition.com Store 1 is the Ganu Street shop of one of Malta's established sports nutrition retailers. It stands at 33 Ganu Street in Birkirkara, the same street where the business opened its first physical outlet, and it sits alongside an online store that carries more than 3,000 products. For UK visitors and new residents who train, it is a straightforward place to find the protein, supplements and snacks they know from home, along with brands that are common in Malta.

The shop is listed in our directory of sports shops in Malta. This page describes what is sold and does not offer health or dietary advice.

From one brand to a full range

MaltaNutrition.com began in 2004, when ordering and paying online was still unusual in Malta and many customers preferred to collect their goods in person. It started by importing a single brand, Dymatize, which was among the first to offer eleven flavours of its Elite 100% Whey Protein. Online sales were slow at first, so the founder opened a shop on Ganu Street in Birkirkara, and the Dymatize range took off.

Detour protein bars, imported from the US, followed. Over the years the business dealt directly with more supplement companies, and it now represents brands including Powerbar, USN, Optimum Nutrition, BSN, Nutramino, Pure Nutrition, Nanosupps, Gold Nutrition, Barebells and Nocco. Around 2015 it expanded into food with Meridian Foods, Delicious and Nutritious, Filippone and Diet-Food, and in 2020 it began importing fitness equipment from Bearfitness and KingsBox. Outlets in Paola and Victoria in Gozo were closed so that operations could be centred on Birkirkara and the online store.

What you can buy

Supplements include amino acids, BCAA, creatine, EAA, pre-workout, energy and endurance products and post-workout recovery.

Food ranges from baking mixes, bread and cereal to nut butters, sauces, snacks, sweeteners and vegan items. Drinks include protein and energy drinks, kombucha, teas and sports drinks. Vitamins and health lists fish oil, greens, joint support, sleep aids and vitamins and minerals, and the gear section covers gym equipment, shakers and bottles, meal management bags and injury accessories.
