Manta

Manta is a lido and restaurant on the Tigné seafront in Sliema, facing the harbour and the skyline of Valletta. It combines a heated pool and sunbeds with a Mediterranean fusion kitchen, a sushi bar, cocktails and live entertainment, so you can spend a whole day or an evening in one place. It suits couples, friends and groups who want a polished setting by the water, with food that goes well beyond a typical beach snack, and it is easy to combine with a walk along the Sliema front. The pool and sunbeds

The pool is the centrepiece, and the club offers a heated pool and sunbed experience with views of the water and of Valletta across the harbour. Guests can choose among sunbeds, poolside beds and gazebos, and a floor plan on the website shows where each type sits.

Booking rules are straightforward. A sunbed is confirmed only once payment is settled, it is held for two hours after the booking time and then counted as a no-show, and allocation is first come, first served. Reservations for the heated pool experience must be made at least 48 hours in advance, and all reservations are non-cancellable. Food and drink

The restaurant serves Mediterranean fusion cooking, with seafood, vegetarian options, souvlakis, pasta, burgers and a full sushi bar. Appetisers come with focaccia, such as hummus at €8.50, and starters include anchovy bruschetta at €14.50, tuna tartare at €15.00 and prawns saganaki at €21.00.

Mains from the sea include grilled crispy skin salmon at €26.00, and from the land a grilled beef ribeye at €35.50. The Manta burger is €18.50, and the sushi platter of 32 pieces is €45.00. For sharing there is a tomahawk at €130.00, and tiramisu is €9.00.

Breakfast and brunch run from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Options include the Lifestyle Full English at €9.90, shakshuka at €7.90 and croissants at €3.50. A 9.5% discretionary service charge is added to the final bill, and menus can change. Dessert choices include pistachio and rose mille-feuille, cheesecake with red berry compote and ice cream sundaes, so there is plenty to finish a long lunch. Vegetarian and vegan dishes sit on the sushi and main menus, and sauces such as chimichurri and béarnaise are available separately.

Atmosphere and events

Manta aims to be a sanctuary away from daily pressures, where Mediterranean charm meets good food, and it takes its name from the grace of the manta ray. An in-house DJ, a percussionist and dancers add to the mood on busy days. The programme includes Golden Hour sessions, a Brunch Club, a steak and sommelier evening and private dining and events, and gift vouchers are available.
