MSG Car Hire is a family-run Maltese business, set up by its founding family more than ten years ago with a plain aim: to give visitors an easy and affordable way to see the island by road. The business grew from that idea into a small fleet of cars, crossovers, SUVs and scooters, and it is run from San Ġwann, a busy residential and commercial town a short drive from Sliema, St Julian's and the airport.

Cars, crossovers and scooters

The booking form lets you filter by category: small cars, medium cars, compact crossovers, SUVs and scooters. A small car is the easiest choice for narrow village streets and tight parking, while a crossover or SUV gives more space for luggage and families. Scooters suit solo riders or couples who want something nimble. Every vehicle is regularly serviced and maintained for safety and reliability.

Rental prices include driver insurance cover, unlimited mileage and 24 hour roadside assistance. Optional extras can be added for a fee where available, including GPS navigation, child seats, booster seats, extra insurance cover and additional drivers. If a car breaks down, the roadside team either sends a mechanic or arranges a replacement vehicle as soon as possible.

Pickup, drop-off and Gozo

Three pickup options appear on the booking form: the MSG office in San Ġwann, Malta International Airport, or a custom location of your choosing. The same three options are offered for drop-off. Collecting from one place and returning to another is possible within Malta, subject to availability and an extra fee, and the price is shown as you book. These different-location services are not offered in Gozo.

Requirements, deposit and extensions

To hire, you need a valid driving licence and a credit or debit card in your name. International drivers must also show their passport and proof of their travel itinerary. Renters must be between 21 and 75 years old, so younger drivers cannot hire.

Every booking needs a €30 deposit, which is deducted from the total rental cost. It is not refundable if you cancel, so contact the team as soon as possible if your plans change. To extend a rental, get in touch as early as you can: extensions depend on availability and may carry extra fees.

Opening hours and how to enquire

The MSG office keeps working hours from Monday to Friday 07:30 to 17:00 and on Saturday 07:30 to 14:00, with Sunday closed, while customer support is available every day from 06:00 to 23:00. That helps if your flight lands early or late.
