Myoka Spa Golden Sands

Myoka Spa Golden Sands is a hotel day spa on the north-west coast of Malta, set inside the Radisson Blu Resort and Spa at Golden Bay. It is open to anyone who books, so you do not need to be staying at the resort to enjoy a massage, a facial or a full spa afternoon. The idea behind the spa is to bring the mind to the body: smell restores harmony, sound induces relaxation and touch evokes healing, with each treatment shaped around what you want from the visit.

The spa and its facilities

The spa is built around a calm, sensory experience and a generous set of facilities. These include an indoor heated pool, an Ayurvedic centre, a hammam, a Japanese head spa suite, a Jacuzzi, a panoramic sauna, a steam room, a relaxation lounge and a fitness suite. There is also a private couples suite with a bath, which suits a shared treatment for two.

You can come for an hour or for the afternoon. Many of the packages include use of the pool, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi for part of the day or longer, a welcome drink, herbal tea or Prosecco, use of the relaxation lounge and free parking. The spa is open every day, Monday to Sunday, from 9am to 7pm.

The setting is quiet and surrounded by nature, which suits travellers who want a slower pace than the resorts further along the coast. The spa belongs to Myoka, a spa operator that also runs spas in several other hotels across Malta, so the menu and the standards will feel familiar if you have visited one of them.

Spa days and signature rituals

The longer packages are the best way to use the whole spa. The 6-in-1 Head-to-Toe Escape lasts 85 minutes and combines a full body scrub, a relaxing back massage, a rejuvenating facial, foot reflexology and a finish with red light therapy. It includes a €15 lunch credit at Mokka restaurant, access to the spa facilities for the rest of the day and a choice of herbal tea or Prosecco. It is priced at €125 per person or €250 for two, with limited slots and a request to call to book.

Nirvana, the Ayurvedic Escape, is an 85 minute ritual built on Ayurveda, the traditional Indian system of wellbeing. It starts with a welcome ritual and a warm herbal oil full body massage, continues with Shirodhara, a slow pouring of warm oil over the forehead, and ends with an extended Indian head massage and reflexology. It is offered at a special price of €135 on weekdays, a saving of €75.

Arabian Nights, the Hammam Ritual, lasts 85 minutes and follows the traditions of the hammam, the steamy bathing ritual of the Middle East. A traditional black soap exfoliation is followed by a nourishing body mask, a warm oil massage and a rejuvenating facial mask. It is offered Monday to Thursday at a special price of €125, a saving of €90. The Maltese Sun-Kissed Spa Day, also Monday to Thursday, draws on local ingredients: exfoliation with Maltese salt, a massage with Maltese olive oil, and a hydrating mask with Maltese prickly pear extract, finished with an oriental head massage.

Shorter treatments and seasonal offers

If you only have an hour, there are plenty of shorter options. The Ultimate Quick Fix takes 45 minutes and costs €85, combining a targeted back, neck and shoulder massage with CBD gel, a face and head massage, a foot relaxation ritual, and a glass of Prosecco or herbal tea, with access to the indoor spa facilities. Stress Relief is 55 minutes at €99 and brings together a tension-releasing full body massage, therapeutic pressure on the feet and a soothing face mask.

Invite Calm, a 55 minute Calming Spa Day, pairs a welcome ritual with a hot stone massage, a radiance facial, a foot pressure ritual and a rejuvenating face mask, plus two hours in the spa facilities. The Autumn Retreat is a 75 minute spa journey with a hot stone massage, a face mask and an Indian head massage, then a €15 credit towards lunch at the Mokka Lounge Bar.

The spa also runs seasonal rituals and mid-week specials, usually Monday to Thursday, using Myoka's own scents and products such as hemp, birch, cranberry and jasmine. These change through the year, so ask which are running when you enquire. Prices on this page are those printed at the time of writing, and limited-time offers can change or end.

Facials and the wider menu

Skincare is a strong part of the spa. The Biologique Recherche Radiance and Relaxation experience, a signature 85 minute journey, pairs a 55 minute Booster VIP O2 facial with a 30 minute treatment of your choice: a relaxing back massage, foot reflexology or a full body scrub. The special price is €120 against a regular price of €195. Biologique Recherche treatments are based on a dermo-cosmetic analysis of your skin, which the spa calls your Skin Instant, so the facial is tailored to you.

The wider Myoka menu lists signature massage treatments, Ayurveda, hammam rituals, a Japanese head spa, Dead Sea mud treatments and holistic facials, as well as anti-age facials and skin technology treatments. Couples, gifts and groups

With a private couples suite and a bath, the spa is well set up for two. Couples can book side-by-side massages, and there are seasonal couples rituals, such as a shared massage with a red wine bubble bath and a glass of Prosecco for two. Gift vouchers are available for any treatment or for full or half-day programmes, and they can be exchanged at any Myoka spa, which is handy if the recipient is visiting a different part of the island. Vouchers are not refundable and must be presented when booking.

Booking policies and planning your visit

All bookings are prepaid at the time of reservation and charged to a credit or debit card, and the spa accepts cash, cheques and major credit cards. Guests are asked to arrive 15 minutes before their appointment, so there is time to change into spa wear and have a detailed consultation. If you have had surgery in the past six months, have a medical condition or are pregnant, tell the spa when you book so the therapists can guide your experience. Cancellations need at least 24 hours' notice, otherwise a 50% charge applies, and no-shows are charged 50%.
