Protein Malta

Protein Malta is a Maltese retailer of sports nutrition, supplements and health foods, run from a warehouse at the Handaq Industrial Park in Qormi. It has served the local market for more than three decades and now sells through an online shop that lists well over a thousand products. For UK visitors on a long stay, expats and anyone training in Malta, it is a convenient way to find familiar sports nutrition names without hunting round several shops.

The business is listed in our directory of sports shops in Malta. This page describes what is on sale and does not offer health or dietary advice.

What the shop sells

The range is organised into bundles, protein, food and snacks, vitamins and health, performance, accessories and drinks. Protein covers whey, whey isolate, whey complex, casein, beef, vegan protein and weight gainers. Food and snacks include protein bars and chips, nut butters, cooking sprays, zero sauces, honey, desserts and breakfast items. Vitamins and health lists categories such as multivitamins, omega 3, joint supplements, greens and superfoods, sleep aids and digestive health, and weight management has its own section.

Performance products include amino acids, creatine, pre-workout, endurance and post-workout recovery. Accessories cover apparel, shakers and bottles, and books. The drinks section has collagen, energy, isotonic and protein drinks and gut health drinks. Everything is searchable by brand, and brands include Applied Nutrition, Olimp, Nutrend, QNT, Maurten, 7 Nutrition, Leap Nutrition and Carnium Botanicals, among others.

Some brands stand out for particular lines. 7 Nutrition offers natural peanut butter, mushroom powders such as cordyceps, chaga and reishi, magnesium and a green detox mix. Rabeko Products makes zero-sauce dressings and flavoured cooking sprays, and The Six Pack Revolution supplies books on eating and training. With more than 1,100 products in the catalogue, the brand filters on the shop page are the quickest way to narrow things down.

Prices, bundles and endurance fuel

Each product page shows its price in euros, and the shop marks items that are on offer or out of stock, so check the current figure before you order. Bundles bring several products together, with named sets such as the Protein Lover Bundle, the PreWorkout Junkie bundle, the Critical Whey bundle and a Leap Nutrition mix and match, plus performance, vegan and wellness bundles.

Endurance athletes will find dedicated fuel from Maurten, including its drinkable hydrogel gel for triathlon and long-distance training, along with isotonic drinks and energy products. Shoppers who prefer natural wellness ranges can browse Carnium Botanicals, and parents or gym-goers can look at snacks and zero sauces that fit a protein-focused diet. The shop's blog covers topics such as phosphatidyl serine and lactoferrin. If you want personal guidance on diet, you can also look at the nutritionists in our directory, such as A New Better Life.
