SKYBEACH is the rooftop pool and restaurant of the InterContinental Malta hotel, set high above St George's Bay in St Julian's. It combines an infinity pool, lounge seating and a restaurant, with wide views across the Mediterranean, so a long lunch can slide into an evening of sushi and live music without leaving the terrace.
The hotel itself opened to the public on 18 January 2003, and SKYBEACH is one of several venues within it. If you are comparing places to swim and relax, our swimming pools in Malta directory shows other options, and our hotels in Sliema and St Julian's guide covers the wider area.
Lunch, dinner and live music
The rooftop serves lunch and dinner every day during the season. Daytime brings Mediterranean dishes, and in the evening the emphasis moves to sushi, with maki, nigiri and sashimi on the plate. Live music is part of the atmosphere, and the whole setting is designed around the views and the pool.
The lunch menu is broad. Starters and bites include crunchy chicken at €13.50, beach calamari at €18.00 and halloumi bites at €13.00. There are burgers and sliders, such as classic beef melt sliders at €16.50 and wagyu sliders at €24.00, plus raw dishes like meagre carpaccio at €18.50. Pasta and risotto dishes run from €14.00 to €19.00, fish mains such as pan seared sea bass cost €30.00 and a rib eye is €35.00. Main dishes come with seasoned potato fries, and desserts begin at €7.00. Allergy information is given on the menu, and diners are asked to tell staff about dietary needs.
Prices are as printed on the 2026 lunch menu and may change. Between meals you can plan the rest of the day with our things to do in Malta guide.
The pool and the season
The pool is an infinity pool on the roof, edged by loungers and parasols, so you can swim with the sea and skyline as your backdrop. The venue is open seasonally from mid-April until October, weather permitting, and at the time of checking it was closed for the 2026 season.
That seasonal window is worth knowing before you book flights. Our Malta weather guide shows what to expect month by month, and if you are travelling from the UK, the guide to flights to Malta covers routes and timings. For a beach alternative, see the best beaches in Malta.
Other venues at the hotel
The hotel's dining includes Paranga, Waterbiscuit, The Brass Bar, Al Fresco, Lubelli, Harruba, SkyHigh and the Narcis Pool Bar. Afternoon tea, called Treasured Tea, is served at The Brass Bar daily from 2.00 to 5.00pm, priced at €34 for two people. Lubelli is a Neapolitan pizzeria and birreria beside the bay, open daily with no booking needed.
The hotel also has a beach club, an indoor pool, outdoor pools, a spa called Carisma Spa and Wellness, and a health and fitness club. It lies about 20 minutes from the airport and 15 minutes from Valletta, so our Valletta guide and where to stay in Malta page are useful companions for planning your trip.
Lubelli is a good fallback for a relaxed meal, since it needs no booking. Lunch there runs from 12:30pm to 4pm and dinner from 6pm to 11pm.
Planning your visit
SKYBEACH sells a day and night experience: sun and swimming first, then dinner as the light drops over the bay. Because it is on a hotel roof, it is sensible to check the weather and the opening dates with the venue first, since service depends on conditions. Dishes are labelled for gluten free, vegetarian and vegan choices, and staff ask guests to mention allergies when ordering, so families and groups with mixed diets can usually find something suitable.
To ask about SKYBEACH, use the VisitMalta.co.uk enquiry form on this page and we will pass your message to the venue. Our Malta holidays overview is a good starting point for planning the rest of the trip.
