The Twizy and how it drives
The cars are the Twizy 80 Technic, with a top speed of 85 km/h, which is ample for Malta's islands and urban roads. Rental rates and the rules
Self-drive rates include VAT: €25 for one hour, €45 for two hours, €70 for three hours, €80 for four hours and €100 for a full day, with each extra half hour at €15. Hourly rates apply only when you book from the Port of Valletta office, and pick-up and drop-off take place between 09:00 and 19:00. Electric scooters start at €10 per person per hour, with helmets provided.
Drivers must be at least 21 years old with a valid driving licence held for three years, and a deposit is held on your card: €250 for drivers aged 21 to 25 and €150 for those older. Extra excess reduction can be added for €10, which limits the excess to €500. Only one passenger is allowed, children must be at least three, and the car must stay on tarmac roads within Malta.
Reservations are free to place and you pay at the office when you collect the car. You can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before; later cancellations are charged at 50% of the booking. For larger groups, get in touch and the team will reply within 24 to 48 hours.
