Parents travelling with toddlers soon learn that Malta's heat, and the occasional wet winter day, call for a plan B. The Kids Park Spinola is an indoor soft play centre in St Julian's where children can climb, jump and slide while adults take a seat and a break. The play centre sits inside the Carob Tree at Spinola Park, a short distance from the bay.

The park is aimed at the youngest children, with tickets sold for ages 1 to 10 and a recommended range of 0 to 9. It appears in our directory of children's activities in Malta, and it is a handy rainy-day option alongside our guide to things to do in Malta.

What the park offers

The space includes a variety of play zones for different ages, from climbing walls to interactive games, with supervised play areas and a focus on cleanliness and safety. There is comfortable seating for parents, and a choice of eateries on site: Tuk Tuk, Zen to Go Express, Falafel Street and Da Lorenzo. That means lunch can happen without leaving the building.

For a family on holiday, the practical appeal is simplicity: book a slot, take your shoes off, and let the children burn off energy in a contained, indoor space. Wondering how the weather will affect your plans? See the Malta weather guide before you choose which days to stay indoors.

Tickets, packages and vouchers

Play is sold by the hour. A ticket for two children for one hour costs €18.00, and a ticket for three children costs €24.00. A single-child ticket is also available. Extra play time is charged per hour, at €5 for one child, €10 for two and €15 for three. Each ticket includes entry for up to two adults, and an extra adult costs €5 per hour.

Regular visitors can buy packages of 10 hours for €80.00, 20 hours for €140.00 or 30 hours for €180.00, each valid for one year from purchase. Gift vouchers come in values of €10, €15, €20, €25 and €50. Tickets stay valid for six months and cannot be refunded, but they can be transferred to another person or moved to another day or time if you let the park know in advance. Parents who like to plan ahead can book online, and the booking form lets you choose the date and time. Babies up to 12 months enter free with one paying child.

Parties and school outings

The Birthday Bash package is the park's party offer, and details are available on request through the booking form. School outings are for ages 1 to 7, run on weekdays from Monday to Thursday between 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., and take up to 30 children each time.

If you are weighing up other venues for a birthday, Adventure Hub is another children's activity venue in our directory.

House rules and practical tips

Shoes of both adults and children must come off, and everyone wears socks. A responsible adult must stay with each child at all times, because staff cannot mind children while parents run errands. An older sibling above the recommended age may come in and counts as an adult, but cannot play in the soft play area.

Parking at the site is not free, but it is validated at no extra cost if you buy something from the outlets or food vendors. St Julian's is the most popular base for visitors, with plenty of hotels in Sliema and St Julian's, and our where to stay in Malta guide compares the areas. Families heading to the capital can also read our Valletta guide, and the wider Malta holidays overview covers trip planning.

To ask about tickets, parties or school outings, use the VisitMalta.co.uk enquiry form on this page and we will pass your message to The Kids Park Spinola.
