The Realm of Pure Fantasy

The Realm of Pure Fantasy is Malta's dedicated Warhammer hobby store, set in Mosta in the middle of the island. It is part shop and part clubhouse: a place to buy Games Workshop products, then sit down and play with other hobbyists. If you collect miniatures at home in the UK and want to pack light, or you are a visiting gamer looking for an opponent, it is a good address to know. Our toy shops in Malta directory lists more specialist retailers.

What the store sells

The Realm stocks Games Workshop ranges, including Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer Age of Sigmar, The Old World, Kill Team, Necromunda, Blood Bowl, Legions Imperialis, the Horus Heresy and the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game, along with Warhammer Underworlds and terrain. Faction sections cover Space Marines, Orks, Death Guard, Tyranids, Aeldari, Stormcast Eternals, Skaven, Tomb Kings of Khemri and many more. Black Library novels and White Dwarf magazine are stocked for readers, and the hobby accessories section covers paints, brushes and tools.

Some products are available on order, with delivery subject to availability, and new releases and pre-orders are listed on the website. Printed examples include a Warhammer Pro drybrush at €13.50 and a Battlefields boxed set at €320.00. Exact prices and stock change often, so check before you travel.

Gaming tables, events and membership

The store is also a gaming space where players can book tables and play in a friendly, organised setting. Tables suit casual games, testing a new army list, preparing for an event or taking a first lesson if you are new to the hobby. The Realm runs gaming nights, tournaments, hobby sessions, painting activities and special in-store events, and its website has an events and tournaments page.

A membership programme gives members 18% off many items, which rewards regular customers and helps keep the hobby affordable. For wider fun, our children's activities in Malta listing is nearby, and entertainment venues such as 97Notes offer an evening out afterwards.

Starting or growing an army

Warhammer can look daunting from the outside, so it helps that the store sets out its aim plainly: to make it easier for players in Malta to find the products they need, discover new armies and keep up with the latest Games Workshop releases. A beginner might start with a single faction, a few paints and a brush, then book a table to try a game. Painters can find the Warhammer Pro tone drybrush in large, medium, small and extra small sizes, designed for soft synthetic bristles that build highlights on cloth, fur, scales and armour.

Collectors and readers have plenty to browse too. Black Library publishes novels set in the Warhammer worlds, and the store lists hardback and paperback titles for pre-order. Terrain, dice and army reinforcement sets help build a table that looks as good as the models on it. For anyone travelling from the UK, it is wise to check stock and opening times first through the form on this page, as the opening hours are narrow.

Visiting Mosta

Mosta is close to Mdina and Rabat, so a shopping or gaming session pairs easily with a day in the old capital described in our Mdina guide. Opening hours are mainly evenings on weekdays, which suits visitors who spend the day sightseeing. Our things to do in Malta guide and Malta weather guide will help you plan, and you can book flights and a base using our flights to Malta and where to stay in Malta pages. If you are moving here, our relocating to Malta guide and the about Malta overview cover the practical side. To contact the store, use the VisitMalta.co.uk enquiry form on this page and we will pass your message to the business.
