Tyre Store Ltd

Tyre Store Ltd is a local tyre business on Dawret Ħal Għaxaq, in the south-east of Malta close to the villages of Għaxaq and Gudja. Its pitch is simple: good tyres from well-known makers at affordable prices, with fast service and a wide choice. On VisitMalta.co.uk it is listed among the tyre shops in Malta.

For a UK reader, a tyre shop like this is most useful if you live on the island, keep a car here for part of the year, or have hired a car and need a worn or damaged tyre looked at. The business concentrates on tyres, with fitting and puncture repair as the supporting services, so it is a straightforward stop when tyres are all you need. If your car also needs a mechanic, you will need a separate workshop for that, and it is worth asking the business what it can and cannot take on before you drive over.

Brands on offer

Tyre Store Ltd offers tyres from Sailun, Dynamo, Starmaxx and Petlas. Together they give drivers a choice of makes at the affordable prices the business is aiming for. Tyre Store Ltd also acts as an agent for tyre suppliers.

If you are unsure which tyre suits your car, take the size from the sidewall of a tyre you already have, or from the vehicle manual, and include it in your enquiry. A size is written in a form such as 205/55/16, giving the width, the height of the sidewall as a percentage of the width, and the wheel diameter in inches.

Fitting, puncture repair and the free fitting offer

Beyond selling tyres, the business offers tyre fitting and puncture repair. A puncture repair is often the quickest way to get back on the road, though whether a tyre can be mended depends on where the damage is, so the staff will need to look at it.

There is also a special offer of free installation: when you buy tyres from Tyre Store Ltd, the fitting is done at no extra cost. Because offers can change, confirm the current terms when you enquire. The website does not print prices, so ask for a quote for your size and brand. It also helps to say whether the tyres are for a small hatchback, a family saloon or a larger vehicle, since that affects the choice of model and the time needed for fitting. Mention the number of tyres you want to replace as well, because many drivers change them in pairs or as a full set.

Who it suits

The business suits residents who want a nearby, straightforward tyre supplier, and long-stay visitors who are living in Malta for a season. If you are planning a move from Britain, our Malta relocation guide explains the practicalities of settling in, and the Malta tax guide for UK nationals covers the financial side.

Anyone driving on Malta's roads in summer will also want to think about heat. Our Malta weather guide shows how temperatures change through the year, which is a good reminder to have your tyres checked before a long journey to somewhere like Golden Bay or the best beaches in Malta.

Finding the shop and getting started
