Msida is a lively district a short drive from Valletta, and Welbee's has a branch there labelled Campus Hub, on Triq Roberto Ranieri Costaguti. For anyone renting nearby or staying a few weeks, a supermarket within reach makes daily life easier. It is listed in our directory of supermarkets in Malta.
Welbee's information covers the group as a whole. This page follows that approach, explaining what the chain offers in store and online, and confining branch facts to the address and name.
A group built from local grocers
Behind the shop is Retail Marketing Ltd, which was created in March 2021 when four local grocery and supermarket businesses joined forces. A number of them had been serving customers since the 1940s. By October 2021 they were trading together as Welbee's.
The group now has ten stores across Malta, employs more than 500 people and buys from local suppliers and importers. The values it works to are local roots, family spirit, unity, respect, honesty and trust, and the team includes colleagues from over 34 different nationalities.
How ordering works
Welbee's online shop is built so that a new customer can begin without registering. Add a product and you are asked to log in or carry on as a guest, then to give your address, because orders are prepared from one of two supermarkets chosen by where you live. Take care with your postcode, since it keeps the address accurate.
Next choose delivery or pickup. Delivery costs nothing above €65 and €5 beneath it, plus €5 more if the courier faces stairs with no lift. Anything you need quickly can go by express same-day delivery for a fixed €13. For pickup, three shops take orders at present, Spinola, Santa Venera and Naxxar, and the charge is waived on baskets over €35. You get an instant confirmation email, so look in your junk folder if nothing arrives. Changes are best made through the live chat, open Monday to Saturday from 7am to 8pm outside public holidays.
What is on the shelves
Departments run from baby products and bakery through chilled and frozen food to drinks, household goods and pet supplies. Alongside the groceries, the web shop carries clothes and accessories, home and entertainment items and a healthy section. Special offers change weekly, and members of the Loyalty Club see their own reduced prices.
Cashback and points from the club can be applied to later purchases, and the group's help pages cover what happens to points when you move from the app to the card. Payment and returns questions, including damaged or expired goods, are answered in the group's FAQ pages..
Brands you will recognise from a UK shop sit beside Mediterranean staples, with Greek yoghurt, feta and halloumi near the top of the front page and cleaning and laundry products sold at reduced prices. Drinks in deposit containers show a 10 cent charge under Malta's beverage container refund scheme. If you would rather use an app than the website, many Welbee's shops can also be found on Wolt.
