Welbee's Spinola

Spinola Park is the setting for one of Welbee's most useful supermarkets for visitors: not only a shop you can walk into, but also one of only three stores where online orders are handed over for collection. If you are staying in or near St Julian's and would rather not carry bags of shopping back from the shelves, you can reserve a basket in advance and pick it up the same day. The branch appears in our list of supermarkets in Malta.

Welbee's information is written for the whole chain, so this page explains the group's services and keeps branch-specific statements to the address and its role as a pickup point.

Collecting an order at Spinola

The shop selector in the online store invites you to buy groceries and more for same-day pickup, and says pickup is free on orders over €35. Spinola is listed as a pickup location together with Santa Venera and Naxxar. When you start an order, choose pickup first so the site checks stock in that particular store, since availability differs between shops.

You can register or continue as a guest. A confirmation email arrives straight away, and a changed total after substitutions is settled in a separate payment or on delivery if your card is declined. Age-restricted goods need age verification, and shoppers who look under 25 may be asked for a driving licence, passport or proof of age card.

If you prefer delivery

Home delivery runs on a simple scale. Orders over €65 arrive without a delivery fee, anything smaller costs €5, and a courier who has to carry the shopping upstairs adds €5. When you need food in a hurry, express same-day delivery is a fixed €13 whatever you spend. You pick the date and time while ordering, and a booked slot is held for 60 minutes while you finish.

The couriers belong to an outside company, and they contact you shortly before the van reaches your door. You will be asked to sign your receipt to confirm the number of boxes delivered. If something is missing or damaged, the group's live chat is open Monday to Saturday, 7am to 8pm, except on public holidays.

The company and its range

Welbee's is run by Retail Marketing Ltd, set up in March 2021 when four local grocery brands merged, some of which began trading in the 1940s. The shops adopted the Welbee's name in October 2021. There are ten supermarkets and more than 500 staff, and local suppliers and importers are part of the supply chain.

On the shelves you will find a bakery, a butcher counter, a delicatessen, chilled and frozen aisles, fruit and vegetables, drinks, baby goods, health and beauty items, household products and pet food. Online you can also tag favourite items, repeat an earlier order and choose whether replacements for missing items are agreed by phone or left to the shop. The Loyalty Club adds points and cashback, and the online shop highlights weekly member prices on products such as snacks, toiletries and dairy.
