X-Cube at The Eden

X-Cube brings a high-tech twist to the escape room idea. Instead of padlocks and paper clues, each room is a fully digital space with screens, lights and interactive challenges, and the story changes depending on the game you choose. In Malta, the rooms are found inside The Eden, a large leisure centre at St George's Bay in St Julian's that opened in July 2024. The Eden has installed two X-Cubes side by side, so up to 12 people can play at the same time, with a maximum of six in each room.

The games

Games are grouped by age: adult games for players aged 16 and over, family games for 12 and over, and kids' games for 9 and over, with sessions of 15, 30 or 60 minutes. Murder at the Mansion is a 60-minute whodunnit in which every suspect has a secret and your team must piece together the evidence. Submerged, also an hour long, puts you aboard the Sub-X, an imaginary self-driving submarine, with only sixty minutes of oxygen to solve its puzzles and get out.

The Crazy Game Show runs for 15 or 30 minutes and is pure chaos, with a virtual Show Master throwing surprises at the players. For children there is the X-Cube Spy Mission, in 30 or 60 minute versions, and Agent Star's Spy Training, a 30-minute adventure built for kids' parties where young agents crack codes, chase thieves, question suspects and defuse pretend bombs.

Parties, groups and corporate teams

X-Cube works well for groups because everyone has to cooperate to win. Families can play together, friends can split into two rival teams across both rooms, and companies use it for team building with a difference. The Eden has a separate corporate events team, and if you are planning a larger programme, a local event planning company such as 242.group can tie it in with other activities.

For birthday parties, cakes are allowed with party bookings, and regular customers can bring a cake for an extra fee. Beyond X-Cube, The Eden also has bowling and duckpin bowling, laser tag, arcade games, karaoke, darts, billiards and a soft play area, plus places to eat, so a party can easily fill an afternoon or evening.

An international concept

X-Cube is an international concept run by X-Corp, which has its headquarters in Maassluis in the Netherlands. There are more than 52 X-Cubes in 37 locations worldwide, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Denmark, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Portugal, but The Eden's two rooms are the only ones in Malta. Opening hours, location and booking

The Eden is on Triq Santu Wistin by St George's Bay, in the middle of St Julian's nightlife and hotel district. Winter hours run from 11:00 to midnight Monday to Wednesday, 11:00 to 01:00 on Thursday and Friday, 10:00 to 01:00 on Saturday and 10:00 to midnight on Sunday.
