AIB Insurance Brokers

AIB Insurance Brokers is an independent broker that works from a restored town house in Santa Venera, close to Malta's capital. A broker does not underwrite risk itself: it compares insurers, explains the differences in price and terms, and helps with claims. AIB has operated since 2002 and arranges cover for drivers, homeowners, boat owners and businesses.

The firm is listed on VisitMalta.co.uk in our directory of insurance providers in Malta. It is enrolled in the Brokers List under the Insurance Distribution Act and regulated by the Malta Financial Services Authority.

Who AIB is

AIB's motto is excellence, dedication and competence. As an independent intermediary it has the freedom to approach the whole Maltese and European insurance market, and it assigns qualified staff to each client. The firm employs a team of 20 people and has been growing quickly.

Ramon Mizzi is managing director, Eric Frantz is general manager and executive director, Kris Baron is a director, and Dr Andre Borg is a director and company secretary. Ian Caruana is chief finance officer, and Claudette Grixti is assistant manager for personal lines. Claims support is a priority, and the team keeps the client's interests at the front of its negotiations with insurers.

Motor, home and boat insurance

Personal lines are handled by a dedicated team. Motor insurance is available for every kind of vehicle, from private cars to commercial fleets, with comprehensive, third party fire and theft, and third party options, and a quote form that asks who the authorised drivers will be. Home insurance runs from a traditional house of character to a block of flats, which is useful for UK buyers of an older Maltese property. Boat insurance ranges from dinghies and small craft to luxury chartered yachts. Its quotation form asks about the type of boat, whether it is a speed boat, yacht or sailing boat, hull material, top speed, whether use is for pleasure or commercial and the number and type of engines. That detail lets the brokers match the vessel to the right insurer.

Business insurance

Business insurance protects company assets and helps to control risk. The idea is to spread and manage the risks that could be destructive, which AIB does by identifying a client's needs and designing comprehensive cover at a sensible cost. The Santa Venera head office

The head office moved to Santa Venera in 2020, following a refurbishment of a town house on St Joseph High Road. The building covers three floors and 500 square metres, with meeting rooms, open and closed offices, and a large yard and garden for outdoor meetings and events. It was inaugurated on 13 November 2020 by the Prime Minister of Malta, with the Minister for Finance and Financial Services present and a blessing of the premises.

The Ħal Għaxaq branch and getting started

A second office on Dawret Ħal Għaxaq serves the south of the island. It opens Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 18:00, with Saturday morning opening in winter, while in summer Saturdays are closed from July to September and August hours finish at 16:45.
