Anurakti Healthy Hub is a vegan, gluten free and sugar free cafe and cake maker with hubs in Qawra, in St Paul's Bay, and on the Ta' Xbiex seafront in Msida. It serves superfood smoothies, speciality coffee, savoury meals, cakes and treats, and delivers across Malta and Gozo. Send your question through the VisitMalta.co.uk enquiry form on this page and we will pass it on.

Anurakti Healthy Hub is a Malta-born food brand that turns out vegan, gluten free cakes and treats, and runs two cafes where you can sit down to a smoothie, a coffee or a plant-based lunch. The cafe in Qawra sits on the north-east side of the island, close to St Paul's Bay, and a second hub overlooks the seafront at Ta' Xbiex in Msida.

It is listed in our directory of organic and healthy food businesses in Malta. For UK visitors with coeliac disease, a dairy intolerance, an egg allergy or a vegan diet, a place where everything on the counter is already free of those ingredients takes a lot of the stress out of eating out.

The story behind Anurakti

Anurakti began in 2013 on the island of Malta, with a vision of making delicious food from wholesome, nourishing ingredients. The founders describe the business as a reflection of their own lifestyle, and they cater especially to people with coeliac disease, diabetes and dairy intolerance by leaving out preservatives, refined sugar, salt and artificial additives.

The mission is to offer healthy, tasty, vegan, raw desserts and food that nourish body, mind and spirit, with an eco friendly and self-sustaining approach. The brand's tagline, Eat Healthy, Live Happier, is printed on its signage and packaging.

Everything produced is vegan, plant-based and gluten free, and also dairy free, lactose free and egg free. Anurakti products are sold in stores across Malta and Gozo as well as through the business's own online shop, and there is a wholesale section for retailers.

Cakes, treats and zero sugar options

The cake range runs from signature cakes and cake slices to cheesecakes, chocolate cakes and luxury celebration cakes. Named favourites include the Ferrero Cake for chocolate and hazelnut lovers, the Buddha Cake, which mixes several flavours, and the fruity BerryLove Cake. Edible letters, candles and gold toppers can be added for birthdays.

Beyond cakes, the shop sells feel-good treats and wholesome bakes, Buddha boxes, superfood snack bars, superfood power balls and frozen savouries. Seasonal collections follow the calendar, with Valentine's, Easter and Christmas ranges and gift ideas for Mother's Day and Father's Day.

A dedicated Diabetic and Keto Zone offers cakes, desserts and treats made with sweeteners such as erythritol, xylitol and stevia and without white or brown sugar. Not every product is zero sugar, since some are sweetened with dates or fruit, so check each product page for ingredients and nutrition. Anyone managing diabetes or a prescribed diet should take their own professional advice.

November Bones, a Maltese tradition made sugar free

November Bones, known in Maltese as Għadam tal-Mejtin, are seasonal treats linked to All Souls' Day and the month of November. Anurakti makes its own version from almonds, lemon, orange, coconut oil, raw cacao, cacao butter, stevia and gluten free oats, with no added sugar, dairy, eggs or gluten.

One bone weighs about 210g and costs €5.90, while a box of four is €19.90. Because they contain almonds and are made where peanuts are handled, they are not suitable for anyone with a nut allergy. They are a seasonal speciality, so ordering early in October and November is sensible, and they can be bought online, at the hubs while stocks last, or from selected shops.

If you are visiting in autumn, they make a distinctive edible souvenir of Maltese tradition. Our things to do in Malta page and the Malta weather guide will help you plan an autumn trip.

The Qawra and Msida hubs, and getting around

At the Healthy Hubs you can order superfood smoothies, speciality coffee, healthy savoury meals and signature desserts, all vegan, gluten free and made without refined sugar. The Qawra hub is on Dawret il-Qawra and opens daily from 9:00 to 19:00, and the Msida hub at 99 Ix-Xatt ta' Ta' Xbiex opens daily from 10:00 to 19:00.

Qawra is a handy base for watersports and boat trips, so a smoothie stop fits easily into a day with a nearby dive centre such as Abyss Diving Club in Buġibba, or a harbour outing with Amazing Boat Trips Malta. The north of the island is also home to Popeye Village, the Mellieħa area and the best beaches in Malta.

The Msida hub makes a pleasant stop on the way to the capital, so see our Valletta guide for what to do there. Orders can be placed on Wolt and Bolt Food for delivery or collection.

Thinking of staying longer? Our relocating to Malta guide explains daily life. For any question about cakes, orders or opening, use the VisitMalta.co.uk enquiry form on this page and we will pass your message to the business.
