CastMe is a recording studio for people who make content: podcasts, YouTube videos, interviews, voice-overs, video sales letters and advert creatives. It is on Tower Road in Sliema, the seafront town that is also the island's main shopping and dining district, so it is easy to fit a session around a day out. Up to four people can record at once, with three cameras for different angles and one on-site operator managing the equipment.
The idea is that you turn up, sit down and talk. Nothing needs to be brought along, as recordings are kept on a hard disk and in cloud storage. The studio is listed with the island's recording studios in Malta.
The team and the studio setup
CastMe was founded by Julie and Thomas, a couple who have lived in Malta for several years. Thomas is a content creator and online trainer who struggled with his own equipment, while Julie works in e-commerce, and together they built the studio they wanted to use. They are joined by an on-site operator, Nicolas Briffa, and a community manager, Nina Kaart.
The kit is designed to avoid the usual headaches: cameras that stop after half an hour, a single fixed angle, poor lighting and weak sound. The studio uses four Shure SM7B microphones with Cloudlifters, three Sony 4K A7C cameras with Tamron 28-75mm lenses, a Zoom Podtrak P4 recorder and an ATEM mini switcher. Screen capture is possible during a session, though live streaming is not available yet.
Instant recording and full production
Two ways of working are offered. Instant recording is booked by the hour at €150 including VAT: three cameras run, the operator manages the session, and you can record as much content as you like within your slot. A single audio file for all microphones and a live pre-edited multi-camera video are sent by cloud link within about an hour, and separate camera files follow within 24 hours.
Full production costs €300 an hour including VAT and adds post-production. A dedicated video maker cuts the episode, applies audio mastering and colour correction, adds your logo and music, and removes unwanted sections, with two rounds of revisions. Edited files arrive within five working days. Longer half-day sessions and ten-hour packages are also offered for regular creators, and those prices are shown when you book.

Who uses the studio
Podcasters and interviewers make up much of the work, but the studio is equally suitable for training videos, expert talks, voice-over sessions and short-form clips for social media. Creators working remotely from the island can read more in our digital nomad guide to Malta, and UK freelancers weighing up the numbers can start with Malta tax for UK nationals.
You can come alone or with up to three guests, and the set-up is adjusted to the number of people present. If you book a longer session you can change format part-way through, for example recording two different shows with different guests.
Visiting and booking
The studio is open from 10am to 8pm, Monday to Saturday. Sliema has plenty of places to stay, and our hotels in Sliema page is a good starting point; for the wider picture see where to stay in Malta.
