Cooltek Services

Cooltek Services is an air conditioning specialist with a retail side, based at Triq San Tumas in Ħal Tarxien, in the south-east of the main island. Jonathan Tabone started the business in 2008, and it now has more than fifteen years in the market. It is an authorised sub-agent of Gree and Daikin, two of the best-known names in air conditioning, and it also stocks household appliances, so a single visit can cover cooling, a new fridge freezer or a washing machine.

Tarxien sits close to Paola and the Three Cities, which makes the shop a short drive from Valletta's harbour area. If you are planning a day around the south, our guides to the Three Cities and the Hypogeum in Paola are useful for planning the rest of your visit.

Air conditioning, installation and design

Gree is the main air conditioning brand in the range. Cooltek sells wall-mounted units, portable units, cassette units, duct and concealed units, floor and ceiling units, Free Match multi systems and air curtains, as well as Gree air to water heat pumps and integrated heat pump water heaters. Daikin wall-mounted units and air purifiers are also available. Printed shop prices include Gree Clivia wall units from €695 to €1,295, Gree Airy wall units from €795 to €1,395 and Daikin Perfera units from €1,099 to €2,195, with price depending on capacity.

For a new installation, the business offers free design and consultation, including for VRF systems, which use one outdoor unit to serve several rooms. It installs and repairs air conditioning in private homes, offices, hotels and commercial properties, and the team inspects existing equipment before recommending what to do. Maintenance agreements are available too. Our guide to air conditioning companies in Malta lists other suppliers if you want to compare, and our Malta weather guide explains why summer demand is so high.

Heat pumps, marine units and other climate products

Beyond standard room units, Cooltek stocks a Gree swimming pool heat pump at between €1,295 and €1,495 depending on size. It is an air to water unit with a titanium heat exchanger, designed for family pools of 20 to 95 cubic metres, and the quoted price covers the unit only, with installation priced after looking at the pool's circulation system. Gree marine air conditioners are listed from €995 to €2,095, which is useful for boat owners; our directory entry for 73 Marine, a yacht broker is a good place to start if you are buying a vessel.

Other products include Gree stand fans, a 30 litre dehumidifier, air purifiers, electric heaters and electric water heaters from brands such as Tesy, Atlantic and Midea. Universal air conditioner remote controls and Wi-Fi modules are sold in the shop for owners who want to control a unit from a phone.

Appliances, repairs and servicing

The retail range covers fridges and freezers in top-mount, bottom-mount, French door, side-by-side and chest styles, washing machines, tumble dryers, cookers, dishwashers, microwaves and small kitchen appliances. Brands include AVG, Beko, Hyundai, Midea and Russell Hobbs. Sale prices are marked clearly, though stock and offers change.

Repairs are carried out on site by qualified technicians. The team repairs air conditioners and other equipment, including refrigeration and electric fans and heaters, and aims to complete work in a timely manner. Visiting and getting started

The shop on Triq San Tumas is open on weekdays and on Saturday mornings, and it is closed on Sundays and public holidays. A showroom of air conditioners, fridges and freezers lets you compare models in person. Owners of holiday lets and hotels may also want to read our Malta holidays overview and our guide to hotels in Malta to understand the seasonal demand for cooling.

When you write, say what type of property you have, how many rooms need cooling and whether you want heating or a heat pump for hot water. To contact the business, use the VisitMalta.co.uk enquiry form on this page and we will pass your message to Cooltek Services.
