Easy School of Languages, known as EasySL, is an accredited English language school in a restored historic building at 21 St Ursula Street in the middle of Valletta. It teaches general, intensive, business and exam English to adults, runs a Golden Age programme for over-50s and offers Erasmus+ teacher training. Send your enquiry through the VisitMalta.co.uk form on this page and we will pass it to the school.

Easy School of Languages, usually shortened to EasySL, teaches English in the middle of Valletta, Malta's walled capital. Its home is a restored historic building on St Ursula Street, so a lunchtime walk takes you past baroque churches, cafes and views over the harbour. For UK visitors who like the idea of studying in a city rather than a resort, that setting is the main attraction.

The school has been teaching for more than 20 years, has certified over 25,000 students and welcomed learners from more than 60 countries in the past year. It is a medium-sized boutique school that mixes adults, professionals and teachers from abroad. You can find it in our directory of language schools in Malta, alongside AM Language and other centres.

The school, its teachers and its accreditation

EasySL is licensed by the Ministry of Education and accredited by the Federation of English Language Teaching Organizations in Malta (FELTOM) and the International Association of Language Centres (IALC). It has also received the European Language Label for its English courses and work placement programmes.

Teachers hold TEFL, CELTA, DELTA or Trinity TESOL qualifications, together with other graduate and postgraduate degrees, and include both Maltese and foreign teachers who keep their skills current through professional development, partly supported by European funding. Teaching follows the communicative approach, which means lessons are built around using English for real conversations, and progress is monitored with regular feedback. A diagnostic test is offered every twelve weeks and can be taken earlier at reception on a Thursday morning.

The recently renovated premises have 17 air-conditioned classrooms with interactive whiteboards, a study room, a placement test hall, a leisure area with computers, free Wi-Fi and a terrace with views over the Grand Harbour. Adult classes have a maximum of nine students.

Adult courses and prices

General English runs from beginner (A1) to proficient (C2) using the National Geographic Outcomes coursebook and its online platform, with three hours of lessons each morning and afternoons free. Lessons last 45 minutes, courses usually start on a Monday all year round and the minimum stay is one week, with no maximum. Adult courses are for students aged 18 and over, with no upper age limit.

The listed weekly prices are €235 for General English, €330 for Intensive English, which adds ten group conversation lessons to the 20 General English lessons, and €420 for either Cambridge exam preparation or IELTS preparation. Business Impact and Combination 25 are €435 a week. A one-off course material fee of 35 euros applies to international applicants, and the fee includes a welcome pack, student card, placement test, Wi-Fi, study areas and an end-of-course certificate. Extra 90-minute intensive skills classes focus on discussion, debate and presentations.

Students are asked to take an online placement test about ten days before arrival, and the certificate depends on attending at least 80 per cent of classes and completing homework.

Golden Age 50+ and other programmes

The Golden Age 50+ programme is designed for mature learners who want conversational practice in a relaxed setting together with a cultural and social programme. It is listed at €1,840, and dates are available all year. Our guides to St John's Co-Cathedral and the Upper Barrakka Gardens cover two Valletta sights that suit this kind of study break.

The Internship Programme, listed at €385, gives exposure to an English training environment and some business experience. Closed groups can request tailor-made courses on a price-on-request basis.

Teachers and education staff can choose weekly courses at €400 on subjects such as English language development, CLIL, methodology, mindfulness and wellbeing, special educational needs, digital technology and artificial intelligence. The teacher programme is eligible for Erasmus+ KA1 funding.
