Gauci Fuels

Gauci Fuels is the petrol station you meet at the edge of Malta International Airport, which makes it a natural first or last stop on a car journey in Malta. It opened in 2023 and was the first fuel station in its immediate area. For UK visitors collecting or returning a hire car, being so close to the terminal takes much of the stress out of refuelling before a flight.

Finding the station at the airport

The forecourt is on Triq l-Ewwel Titjira in Kirkop, directly in front of the McDonald's outlet at the airport. That landmark is easy to spot when you leave the terminal area, and the location suits both travellers and local drivers.

The team focuses on efficient, professional service and on making refuelling quick. The business also plans to open in other localities as it grows, but for now this airport site is its home, and its stated aim is service that goes the extra mile for every customer who pulls in. Kirkop and the surrounding villages lie in the south-east, a short drive from the Ħal Saflieni Hypogeum and the Ħal Tarxien prehistoric complex, two of the island's great prehistoric sites, and the Ħaġar Qim temples are not far either.

What the car washes include

Gauci Fuels offers two levels of cleaning, one for the outside of the car and one for the inside, and each is described step by step so you know what to expect before you book.

The basic exterior wash starts with a pre-soak in active foam, followed by a power wash, a rinse and a hand dry with microfibre towels. It also includes clean exterior windows and a tyre shine. The basic interior clean covers vacuuming of the carpets and floor mats, a wipe of the dashboard, centre console and door panels, and clean interior windows.

Booking, fees and conditions

Car washes are booked through an online form. You choose the make and model of your car, its size and the type of wash, then pick a date and time, give your details and pay by card or PayPal. Once the booking is made, the confirmation can be added to your calendar, which is useful when you are fitting a wash around flight times.

A vehicle that is very dirty and needs extra time carries an additional charge of €15. You can postpone an appointment up to 24 hours before your slot, but cancellations are not refunded. Remove all personal belongings before you leave the car, because the station accepts no responsibility for lost items or damage while the vehicle is on its premises. A clean car is a pleasant way to finish a hire, and the booking system lets you arrange a wash around your flight times.
