Malta Boat Rent

Malta Boat Rent is a private charter company based at 113 Triq il-Terz in Swieqi, a town on the north-east coast. It arranges boat trips, yacht charters, sailing experiences and water sport activities around Malta, Gozo and Comino, and it tailors each request to the date, group size, destination and type of day you want.

The fleet is large: thirteen sailing boats, seven catamarans, two yachts, eight motor boats, two speed boats, two self-drive boats, six jet skis and two traditional luzzu. Sailing boats and catamarans

Sailing charters are sized by group. The Elan takes six to seven guests, the Jeanneau 379 up to nine, the Bavaria 41 eight to nine, the Bavaria 46 ten to eleven, the Beneteau 43 up to eleven and the Beneteau 50 twelve to fifteen. Catamarans suit larger parties: the Lagoon 410 carries 15 guests, the Lagoon 39 seventeen to nineteen, the Lagoon 400 nineteen to twenty-two and the Bali 4.0 twenty-one to twenty-six.

A typical full-day sailing charter on the Elan runs from 10:00 to 18:00, giving eight hours on the water for a base of six guests and a maximum of seven. It includes a professional skipper, fuel, a Bluetooth sound system, access to the onboard amenities and unlimited mineral water. Extra guests cost €50 each and extra hours €100 an hour, and all prices include VAT. An overnight stay on that boat costs €250, with a €150 cleaning fee.

The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 379 is a 38-foot sailing yacht for up to nine guests, with one heads, an 8-hour day from 09:30 to 18:00, and skipper, taxes, soft drinks and water included. Prices for popular trips

Prices are shown on the website for many trips, and they depend on the boat and the length of the charter. Sunset sailing charters include the Jeanneau 379 at €420, the Elan at €450, the Beneteau Cyclades 43 at €480 and the Bavaria 46 at €495. Full-day sailing charters include the Bavaria 41 at €545 and the Beneteau Cyclades 43 at €630, and a full day on the Elan with an aperitif is €850.

Catamarans cost more because they carry more people. A full day on the Lagoon 410 is €900, the Lagoon 39 €995, the Lagoon 400 S2 €1,140 and the Bali 4.0 €1,200, while sunset trips cost €595 on the Lagoon 410, €695 on the Lagoon 39 and €850 on the Bali 4.0. A sunset trip on a traditional luzzu is €695, and a full day on a private yacht is €5,000. Check the current price and what is included when you enquire.

Motor boats, speed boats, self-drive boats and jet skis

For a lively day out, the motor boat Saver 870wa is available for a full day at €900, as well as half-day and sunset charters. Speed boats are offered for half days of four hours or full days of six hours.

Traditional luzzu and sea experiences

Parties, celebrations and corporate events

The boats are used for private celebrations, boat parties, hen dos and bachelor parties, romantic proposals, renewals of vows and getting married at sea. They also host networking and corporate events. Extras on the request form include a chef on board, a delivered shopping list, drinks, a kids' entertainer and a babysitter. Optional food ranges from light and vegan menus to barbecues, and the company asks to be told about allergies in advance.

Adults are guests aged 12 and over, while children are under 12. Routes, timings, swimming stops and food are subject to weather, sea conditions, boat availability and skipper approval, and a charter may be cancelled or rescheduled in bad weather.
