MedAsia Playa is a seafront beach club at Ix-Xatt Ta' Qui-Si-Sana in Sliema, with sunbeds, a pool, Asian-Mediterranean food, cocktails and a programme of themed pool parties. Entry is strictly 17 and over. Send questions through the VisitMalta.co.uk enquiry form on this page and we will pass them to the club.

MedAsia Playa is a beach club on the Sliema seafront, a short walk from the Qui-Si-Sana promenade. It combines daytime sunbed hire beside the Mediterranean with Asian-Mediterranean fusion food, cocktails and a lively crowd, and in the evening the mood changes to music and entertainment. Entry is strictly for guests aged 17 and over, which makes it an adults-only choice rather than a family beach stop.

The club is listed among the entertainment venues in Malta on VisitMalta.co.uk. It suits couples and groups of friends who want a reserved lounger, a drink in hand and a social day, rather than a quiet rock-pool swim.

Sunbeds and prices

Sunbeds come in three types: single standard, single premium and double premium. In May, Monday to Thursday sunbeds are free for Maltese ID card holders only. On Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays in May, a single standard bed costs €20, a single premium €30 and a double premium €60. From June to September, every day, the rates are €25 for a single standard, €35 for a single premium and €70 for a double premium.

Prices are those printed for the season, so ask for current availability when you enquire. If you are comparing days out, our guide to the best beaches in Malta covers sandy bays that suit swimming, and the Malta weather guide shows which months are warmest.

Food, drink and parties

The kitchen serves Asian-Mediterranean fusion dishes, and the bar pours cocktails through the day. The club also hosts a daily party programme with its own themes, including Bubbles, White Party, Bad Bunnies, Candyland and a Toy Room pool party, with start dates through June and July. Details change from season to season, so ask about what is running on your dates.

MedAsia Playa also promotes Toy Room Beach Club Malta, the world's first Toy Room Beach Club, with daily themed parties, live entertainment, an infinity pool and a restaurant. Its mascot is a bear called Frank. Tickets for the events are sold through the club's website, and group bookings and private events are arranged separately with the sales team.

Making the most of a beach club day

A sunbed here is a reserved base for the day, so decide how much space you need before booking. Singles suit solo guests and pairs who want a bed each, while the double premium is the choice for couples who prefer to share a larger lounger. Premium beds cost more than standard ones, so ask what the upgrade includes on the date you want.

The Maltese summer sun is strong from June to September, so pack high-factor sun cream, a hat and a swimsuit you are happy to wear at a pool party. Arriving earlier in the day gives you more choice of position and time to eat before the music builds. Because the club is adults-only and party led, it is best for guests who enjoy a lively atmosphere rather than a quiet read by the sea.

Getting there and planning your visit

The club sits on the Sliema waterfront, which is easy to reach from St Julian's, Gżira and Valletta. For somewhere to stay nearby, see our hotels in Sliema page or the wider where to stay in Malta guide. If you want a boat day as well, Adventure Cruises Malta is listed close by, and for a spa treatment afterwards you can look at AMIS City Spa, Beauty and Hair Salon.

For ideas away from the beach club, our things to do in Malta page and Valletta guide are good starting points, and the Malta holidays overview brings the main areas together. When you are ready, use the VisitMalta.co.uk enquiry form on this page and we will pass your message to MedAsia Playa.
