Neriku Catering

Neriku Catering is one of Malta’s longest-established food businesses, still owned and run by the family that began it. Its kitchens and offices stand in the Corradino Industrial Estate in Paola, a short distance from Valletta, and from there it prepares food for parties at home, outside events and institutional customers.

A family business since 1969

Neriku Zammit and his wife Jane opened a small shop in Valletta in 1969, selling home-made sfinneg, a Maltese battered fish, and chips. He later became the first local businessman to buy a commercial ravioli machine and set up a system for mass-producing and distributing frozen goods across the islands. His sons Charles and Raymond took over and are still directors. They moved into food manufacturing, supplying hotels, canteens and supermarkets with frozen products and sweets, and relocated to the present 1,000 square metre site. The third generation, Joseph, Karl and Anne Marie, now manage the company, which concentrates on two sectors: outside catering and contract catering.

Finger food set menus

The set menus are the easiest way to feed a party. Each guest receives one of every item, the minimum order is ten people, and prices are per person and include 18% VAT. Menu 2 is €9.75, Menu 3 is €11.00 and Menu 4 is €12.50, while a vegan menu is €13.50 and a kids’ menu of seven items is €3.75. Gluten-free and modified menus are also available.

Food arrives pre-cooked and chilled and needs heating in an oven before serving. Delivery on Malta is free on orders over €75.00, from Mellieħa in the north to Marsaxlokk in the south, and Gozo deliveries cost €12.00. Orders cannot be placed for same-day delivery, and amendments or cancellations are accepted up to three working days before the event.

Barbecues, seasonal menus and cakes

The BBQ Al Fresco menu, at €17.50, is planned for terrace sundowners and stylish gatherings. It includes toasted focaccia with garlic butter, a barbecue station with Angus beef burgers on brioche and honey and soy glazed chicken skewers, a selection of salads and carved fresh fruit. Through the year there are seasonal menus, with every item described and priced per piece on the online shop, including Halloween finger food at €13.75, kids’ feasts, Pink October and Movember cakes, muffins and biscuits, and the almond-filled November bones. Outside and contract catering
